You bring up a point that disturbs me more than the topic of this thread: why does Obama have no published writings. I’m an attorney and you google me or any other attorney that has taught at the college level, and you will find works we were required to produce to stay employed. This is a bigger question, but I guess the birth stuff is sexier.
Also, as to why colleagues haven’t spoken to the press? I personally know two—one who went to law school with him and one who knew him at Columbia. Neither wants their name in the paper, neither wants the press all over them, even if they weren’t to be savaged (which is a very real possibility).
John Lott was a colleague at the UoC and has noted in interviews that Zero was extremely cold, unfriendly and would not be drawn into discussions of ideas. He contrasted that with the attitude of another liberal at the UofC Law School, Cass Sunnenstein, whom he characterized as very friendly, and always happy to discuss ideas without rancor.
As for the publishing: 1) he only was an adjunct profession not on the tenure track and was merely using the position to make a claim he was a constitutional professor; 2) you and others were not trying to HIDE your real thoughts as he was while organizing his political base. That was what “community organizing” was for him.
