I am being a little facetious. The thing is, I’m sure that Mr. Paterson is finding that being governor is a lot tougher than being a legislator. He never bargained to be governor, and he has a real mess in New York. There must be a part of him that would think that it would be appealing to leave Albany and enter the Senate. (Oh, and by the way, Paterson has earned my respect. I don’t agree with him, but he has called for cuts, as opposed to tax increases in New York. He will lose this battle, of course, but for a flaming liberal, he at least talks the right talk).

The last I heard was that Paterson was calling for cuts in every other department but his own. I worked for NY State for many years and lived through several austerity budgets. These bureaucrats never cut jobs at the top...just the bottom. Paterson isn’t any different. The majority of administrative positions in the State are politically appointed. God forbid they should let some of their cronies go.
