This week in its series, The New Team, The New York Times profiles Jamie Gorelick, (pronounced Guh-REH-lick), very possibly Americas next attorney general.
In the way of baggage, reporter Eric Lichtblau cites her past employment as vice chairwoman at Fannie Mae and her role in creating the famed intelligence wall while deputy attorney general under Clinton.
Lichtblau may not be aware, however, of her most significant contribution to American security, or lack of the same, the one that put her in position to earn what the Times reports as $25.6 million in salary and other compensation from 1998 to 2003 at Fannie Mae.
Nor does Lichtblau suggest that something other than patriotism may well have inspired her to leave her lucrative post at Fannie Mae to sign on as one of only five Democrats on the 9/11 commission.
In the way of background, Gorelick assumed the deputy AG position in 1994 a month after Clinton crony Webster Hubbell resigned from the Justice Department in disgrace.
Like Hubbell, Gorelick served as the political officer in the 100-thousand employee department, the eyes and ears of the administration, the one who could be trusted. Her boss, Janet Reno, an unreliable figurehead, could not.
An article in the June 3, 1996, Newsweek, described, for instance, how Gorelick had set up a campaign-like war room in her office because in a campaign year, Justice can't afford to be totally blind.
Six weeks later, on July 17, 1996 two days before the start of the Atlanta Olympics TWA Flight 800 blew up off the south coast of Long Island, killing all 230 people on board.

Janet is not far behind in spending programs. After the Bush tax cuts, We had a 2 bil. surplus 2 years ago when she ran for re-election and now we have nearly a 2 bil. deficit.
I am starting to get really paranoid. All of this craziness (federal & state govt’s gone wild) seems rather intentional - gotta bring her all down so that America can be rebuilt into the new USSA - United Socialists States of America. Then I’d have to move somewhere that would actually want to secede. It sure won’t be welfare Michigan.
That's what they've wanted us to believe since 9/11.
However, if they need a "Remember The Maine!" moment, Obama's New Government Media will haul out footage of the Twin Towers jumpers faster than you can say spit.
You'll see the fireballs and hear the recorded screams more times than you can count, if they need us to dance like puppets on a string. Mark my words.
This is possible because the Republicans can no longer gain any political advantage from 9/11.
They showed us this in the two months after Palin was named as VP hopeful.
9/11 was suppressed, and our soldiers and Iraqi citizens were killed for the Democrats to gain political power. They're that insane, and they used their media to make it happen.
Our 401Ks were also dancing to their tune after the market implosion. What else explains Paulson's actions this week?
"Gosh, those emergency billions upon billions that we needed to do that one REALLY REALLY important thing just before the election? Well, we still need them, but not for that thing that was important just before the election."
BTW, I forgot to mention that you're right with this observation - the Democrats think this because THAT'S what they would have done...
