Liberals might think they can overpower the rest of us with the strong arm of the government on their side, but 2 facts seem to be lost on them: first, most of us Americans that own firearms are not liberals; second, most members of the police and military are pretty darned conservative!
As for the idea that blue-helmeted UN troops will be brought in to do the dirty work, I think that is pretty ludicrous. Remember, the UN is not a nation, and has no army in and of itself. It relies on the contributions of personnel from member nations to make up it's “peacekeeping” forces. Of all the UN nations that might contribute forces, there are only a handful that could even conceivably contribute the number of troops that would be required to occupy even say the 20 largest urban areas of the US. A force of this nature would necessarily require a large amount of troops to be contributed by Russia or China. There simply are no other nation or combination of nations that I can imagine would be capable or willing to undertake such a mission.
Supposing such an army could be assembled, the task of even a partial occupation would most certainly appear to be a fool's errand to either Russia or China. The country of Iraq is much smaller than the US, with far fewer population centers, and historical sectarian and ethnic divisions which would seem to hinder any united resistance to an occupation. However, we have learned the hard way that even after ousting a much-despised dictator, the native population (along with the foreign agents they harboured), were quite difficult indeed to pacify. I would think that Russian and Chinese leaders would look at that example and shiver at the thought of attempting to occupy a much larger country with huge amounts of privately owned weaponry, a populace historically rather unified despite our diversity, and a fierce love of freedom and independence.
But if they really think that they have the cojones to be the first foreign army to march onto US soil in well over a century and become the only force to defeat us at home since 1812, I say bring it on! The lessons that we will teach those red bastards will not soon be forgotten by them or by the world at large.
Never mind the fact that the UN forces couldn’t his their @sses with both hands.
