Afghanistan: American journalist kidnapped by Taliban joins Obama celebration, asked to share propaganda techniques over sacraficial lamb dinner with belly dancers.
There, fixed it.

. . . trying to care about a NYT reporter . . . .
Nope. Can’t do it.
Hate to say it, but the NYT reporter was there trying to put a “human face” on the enemy or some other effort to hurt the war effort.
He was an enemy combatant, as far as I am concerned, probably more dangerous than the average Islamist.

The odds of him turning up alive are not good. Much as I despise the New York Times and its reporters, I hope this guy makes it out in one piece.
To: Glenn
I hope the terrorists have mercy.ummmm.
uhhh.
Please tell me that you actually meant for that to sound like the stupidest thing ever said in public?

“The NYT must have requested a news blackout.”
How ironic is that? The NYT probably has requested secrecy, a news blackout, to protect this reporter. Too bad they don’t feel that way about classified reports that could harm our military or our country.
To: Dog
Hope this reporter and driver survive their ordeal.

Please tell me that you actually meant for that to sound like the stupidest thing ever said in public? Prayer and hope spring eternal, my cynical friend.

Now the taliban is kidnapping their own? I’m sure a few more sympathetic stories from the NYT will insure his release.
Prayers to his family.

Yes, they do at that.
I was considering asking the Mod Squad to pull my post, on re-reading it was much harsher than I intended.
Thank you for being so gracious.

I’m sure they will let the “friendly” go after getting a large, “friendly” handout from friends.

Are we sure it’s a kidnapping and not a conference?

“Why would they harm one of their own propagandists?”
Seriously, the NY Times Building and the UN have to be the safest buildings in America as far as terrorists are concerned.

Probably just getting an escort for an EXCLUSIVE interview with Osama Bin Laden or whatever surrogate has been left in charge after his demise.

I know the NYT is not a friend of the USA, but I have a hard time with so many FReepers actually taking some warped delight in this.

Wonder if he’ll be able to convince them that he is really on their side.
