By now youve all heard the Fox News report last week that unnamed former McCain advisers leaked that Sarah Palin was confused about whether Africa was a continent, and which countries were in NAFTA. I was perfectly happy staying under the radar as an anonymous source for Fox News Carl Cameron, but now that Palin has accused her accusers of being unprofessional jerks cowards taking things out of context, and then tried to spread something on national news and begun to cast doubt on the Fox News report, maybe shes right to a certain extent. For those of us on the McCain campaign who thought that she acted like a rogue diva and lost John the election, maybe we DO have a responsibility to come out in public. But Sarah careful what you ask for: some of us may have more to reveal.
So yes, to be clear, last week I was the one who leaked those things to a producer at Fox News who works with Cameron. Carl and his producers are good guys, and I dont want them to have to worry about protecting their sources (and going through the wringer ala Judith Miller or Matt Cooper) on something like this.
As you know, I was one of the foreign policy advisers on the McCain campaign who worked with Randy Scheunemann to help prep Sarah on her debate with Joe Biden. Did we outright give her a geography quiz when we started the prep? No, of course not. But yes, in the context of the prep, it slowly became apparent that her grasp of basic geo-political knowledge had major gaps. Could she have passed a multiple choice test about South Africa or NAFTA. Probably. But it was clear that she simply didnt have the ease of knowledge that we come to expect from a major party political candidate. Other slights came up, too: Not knowing the difference between Hezbollah and Hamas. Or the difference between the Shiites and Suni. Or when it came to international terrorist organizations, knowing that the IRA was in Northern Ireland, and ETA in Spain.
The real thing we had to constantly remind her was to never, ever compare herself in any way to Hillary Clinton, as she had at her announcement speech. We had it on good authority that Biden was prepping to unleash the inevitable line, I know Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is a friend of mine. And Sarah, youre no Hillary Clinton. Alas, Biden would have been right.
scumbag is right.
unnamed former McCain adviser.
That alonewould qualify Eisenstadt as a LOSER.
At least he has the stones to come clean.
wow talk about a bitter bitter person. There are a lot of politicians who do not know the difference between the different muslim factions.
Yeah, well Obambi doesn’t know that Hamas and Hizbullah are TERRORIST groups and that didn’t stop the MSM from coronating him.....
The double-standards in electing Obambi while trashing Sarah Palin are enormous.
If I ever run for office, i’ll make sure to hire him and then fire him in the same minute just to say he wasn’t worthy of being a consultant.
What an ahole. Only in the republican party will you find people who will undermine each other like this. This is why the Pube party is destined to NEVER win again.
This guy’s career is OVER.
not stones at all... just grabbing the spotlight. Really sounds like he didn’t want McCain to win anyway
Who has the Vichy Republican Ping List?
“At least he has the stones to come clean.”
Unless he thinks he has so much left wing support out there he is in fact bragging.
Oh, brother. I’m sure Sarah could have made these guys look like dunces if she had quizzed them on something she specialized in — like energy policy.
>>>At least he has the stones to come clean.
No, if he had any stones, he’d have allowed himself to be quoted by name in the original story. He’s a schmuck.
Ok, she said they were jerks and cowards. Well, maybe jerks, but he’s not hiding and came out.
This guy is a real POS. No wonder McCain lost, with guys like this advising him.
Scumbag is too kind. This Clown thinks that Palin lost the election for McCain because he is on board with McCain’s non conservative bandwagon. We need to get rid of all of these RINO asshats and push hard for 2010 and beyond.
Oh well. Best to get all the mudslinging out in the open.
I wonder if Eisenstadt even knows the difference between an American conservative and an American liberal. I doubt it, so that makes him a dumbass too.
What a douchebag!
