“Does anyone know what happens after that?”

Yes. Word gets around very fast and you will be robbed at gunpoint at the other end as you are driving away from the airport. It happans frequently here in Panama.

What ever happened to Traveler’s Checks? Still not the best idea. Better till, why don’t you use your credit card if you go to countries not on the U.S. blacklist?

Sometimes civil disobedience is necessary when trying to get funding for the basics to the needy. The Left gets to use it’s liberal vehicles (U.N., Greenpeace, CAIR, etc.) for their liberal causes - the rest of us have to do what it takes to care for widows and orphans.

Yes, but they’ve changed their name so many times in the last 10 years, it’s hard to know what to even look under in the phone book. Customs service? ICE? CBE (not to be confused with the CBO)? Oops, make that CBP this week.

Heck yeah. We're trying to find ways to support ONLY business that support conservative causes and politicians, and financially boycott (quietly or not) those businesses that lavish their dollars on socialist agendas.

I'm compiling a list of companies I can find that gave to R candidates so my family and I can choose to spend our $$ accordingly. Example: Michael Dell supported McCain/Palin, Hewlitt-Packard and Gateway executives supported Obama or Hillary with their contributions. Although we already have two Gateways and an HP (bummer), from now on we're going Dell, and that's what I'm going to advise anyone who asks. We do not want our dollars funding our own demise.

When I get a decent-sized collection of companies, I'll post it somewhere. In the meantime, anyone feel free to let me know of any companies you know of whom we could support. (Another example: W ketchup, available online, is absolutely delicious and they are staunch conservatives.)

What about buying stocks / investments in international companies, then transferring the investment holdings internationally?

I didn't follow the thread so I don't know why he is withdrawing the money in the first place? I withdraw 4 to 6 K regularly for buying collectibles at yard sales and second hand stores plus my First Wife goes to a casino once a week and makes or spends a few bucks. I don't have any 401K accounts as our retirement comes from rentals primarily.

We have a 94 year old FRiend who's only income is from SS and dividends in the low 6 figures from oil stocks that her husband purchased in the 50s and 60s

I would change banks. I could see putting a hold on a 10k check if you don't have enough to cover it and it's from out of state, but that's not that much money to set off alarms - roughly a used car or fishing boat.

Freezing the whole account is absurd.

I’m compiling a list of folks interested in tax reduction (starve the evil beast) strategies.

I'm suggesting everybody study the last few "red-blue county" election maps, and move far into a deep red region. My strategy is to move as far from the blue parasite zones as possible. Don't be a host organism, living next to a greedy blood sucker. Plus, the state and local police will resist the fedgov and provide a buffer, instead of acting as willing accomplices to tyranny as they will in blue zones.

A completely unrelated strategy was used by South Africans during times of currency export restrictions. They could only take out a small amount of Rand per year. I met some South Africans in Florida who put every Rand into a boat building project, constructing a sailing yacht from scratch, and stocking it very, very well. Then they went day sailing, and didn't come back.
