Shooting a box of 300 gr Hornady (1500 fps) will sting your palms and rattle your nerves. Accuracy is excellent if you're not recoil averse.

Get a batting glove, and you can shoot all day with it. Takes all the sting right out, even shooting monster loads.

I can tolerate the sting. It's the rattled nerves that leave you quivering for a few hours that limits the frequency of shooting monster loads. I've fired the fattest offerings available in my S&W 500 Magnum revolver. Frankly, that X frame does a very fine job of distributing the recoil down both arms. It's a nice, straight smack. The Hogue Monogrips leave no sting. The Ruger could use a little softer grip.

Well, the glove cuts down on that too .... 405 gr 454 loads at 1300 fps have a kick all their own. Don't care for the .500 at all (454 ... it's enough...). Now that 460 looks nice. But I have other choices in front of it.
