The Obama administration has proposed using United Nations-guided principles to expand a type of zoning to coastal and even some inland waters. Thats raising concerns among fishermen that their favorite fishing holes may soon be off-limits for bait-casting. In the battle of incremental change that epitomizes the American conservation movement, many weekend anglers fear that the Obama administrations promise to fundamentally change water management in the US will erode what they call the publics right to fish, in turn creating economic losses for the $82 billion recreational fishing industry and a further deterioration of the American outdoorsmans legacy...

Here we go: Pelosis staff knew of Massa allegations sooner than claimed.
UPDATE: More here. They had five days to determine if it was a valid complaint, rule 16, p24 and five days to notify Massa Rule 17 p 26. Of course, like everything in Nancys House, all rules are subject to ad hoc changes.
DANIEL SAREWITZ: Has anyone noticed that after 20 years and $25 billion in government-sponsored research on climate change, the political controversy over global warming is actually more intractable and bitter today than it has ever been in the past? Of course there are good reasons, such as the failure of the recent U.N.-sponsored Copenhagen climate conference, stubborn partisanship in the U.S. Congress, and recently discovered mistakes and distortions in the supposedly authoritative 2007 report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. But these, like the tumors in a cancer patient, are symptoms of a mortal pathology, not its cause.
OVER 2,000 TURNED OUT TONIGHT IN ST. LOUIS TO PROTEST BARACK OBAMA!
.But, top Democrats Scattered!
WE WERE FIRED UP!
It was a huge turnout tonight in St. Louis. 2,000 to 2,500 turned out in St. Louis tonight to protest Obamacare.
UH OH: Instapundit reported: Some Democrats shun Obama event in St. Louis. The Show Me State briefly became the No Show State on Wednesday as some prominent Missouri Democrats decided theyd rather be somewhere else when President Obama came to St. Louis to push his massive health care overhaul plan. Probably just scared of the St. Louis Tea Party juggernaut.
People drove from as far away as Quincy, Illinois to make the rally. (We didnt bus anyone in.)
There were a couple of hundred astroturfed HCAN and Obama supporters who showed up but they split early.
Kenneth Gladney came out tonight to join the protesters. Thats Stephanie Rubach in the background.
These Purple People Beaters were really just powder puffs.
It was loud and it was awesome! What a great turnout to let Barack Obama and Claire McCaskill know that we dont want their socialism!
Thanks to StL Cyclist for a couple of these shots.
The St. Louis crowd came out in force. Bill Hennessy, Dana Loesch, Gina and John Loudon, Adam Sharp, Patch, Jon Burns, Jay Stewart, Robert B., 24th State, Spike, Stephanie Rubach, Ed, Brenda
It was a great event. Its just too bad the top democrats decided to stay away. We wanted to greet them, too.
Sharp Elbows has more photos and video of a revolting leftist trying to start trouble at the protest.
Dana Loesch posted some great photos.

UPDATE:- New Count 2,225 TURNED OUT TODAY!!
Use the link- Note & note well-- all races were present- so much for the RAAACIST! Smear...
Probably. Take anything American, anything associated with personal freedom and liberty, and it is probably on their prioritized it list somewhere. Take something associated with self-reliance like hunting, fishing, Second Amendment Rights, and those are probably high on that list. obama is an unapologetic socialist and fascist. He knows he's only going to have one term. He and his marxist leaning cohorts in crime are going to ram through as much of his socialist ideals and agenda as they can.

As Los Angeles County supervisors prepare to carve deeply into everything from public safety to social services, they also are spending millions in taxpayer dollars to burnish their public images, pay for chauffeurs, hold parties for friends and lobbyists and support pet projects. Each supervisor receives $3.4 million a year to spend as he or she sees fit, without any public vote or scrutiny. Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, for example, has spent more than $200,000 to support his new website along with Facebook and Twitter accounts, according to interviews and a Times review of documents obtained through the state Public Records Act. Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas used $25,000 to buy a place in Whos Who in Black Los Angeles. (Excerpt) Read more at latimes.com ... Regardless of whether you agree politically with Sarah Palin, you will find the forthcoming paragraphs simply shocking and eye opening at the same time as I unveil to the world the events and players in a vicious smear campaign that has raged against her since the moment she was chosen by John McCain to run for vice president. That this type of Kafkaesque scenario could even happen in the United States of America should concern anyone of any ideological background who may be considering public life or public office. Stephen Branchflower, an associate of Walter Monegan who was fired by then Alaska Governor Sarah Palin for performance related issues, began to probe the firing and in working with AK State Senator Kim Elton, brought the matter to the attention of the state legislature which opened an investigation with the enthusiastic support of Democratic state legislators, according to ABC News. When due to a FOIA request denail, all but the smoking gun itself is visual in a smoke filled firestorm that despite the connection of a few final dots is sufficient enough for making the case that the Obama campaign in cahoots with state Democrats in Alaska is responsible for the opening acts of one of the worst smear campaigns against any innocent individual in American history. When Palin was selected to be John McCain's vice presidential running mate, Republicans filed suit to stop the Troopergate investigation because it was clear that it was being conducted strictly for partisan reasons - to damage Palin's vice presidential candidacy. Or per chance you'll recall "Barack Hussein Obama, mmm, mmm, mmm"? These are excellent examples of the Obama version of Leni Riefenstahl's art. But those? Well, those are all low class affairs done without an entire orchestra to back them up. Now we have the brilliance of School children in Illinois, Comrade Obama's home turf, to add to the din of young musicians enslaved to efforts to exalt Dear Leader. And this tops them all in production values -- or at least in scope -- for the Midwest Young Artists organization, a group dedicated to "inspiration through music," has taken upon itself to give the Obammessiah the full orchestral treatment along with a choir and a spoken word segment to round out the production. President Obama is unbelievable, No really he's unbelievable.
Says that Obama would have to sign the Senate bill into law before the Senate could proceed to modify it with reconciliation.
In other words, the House members would have to believe the President's (and Harry Reid's) assurances that the Senate won't just quit when its version of healthcare reform becomes law. Remember, the Senate already rejected the House version when it created its own bill.
Summing Up the Past 24 Hours: The Congressional Hispanic Caucus makes a demand that already derailed healthcare reform once. The Congressional Black Caucus complains that Obama isn't listening to them. The central thesis of Georges Grand Remonstrance, however, is that the battle to persuade the world of the reality of global warming is lost. No level of evidence can shake the growing belief that climate science is a giant conspiracy codded up by boffins and governments to tax and control us. By George, hes got it! Reality has dawned. The penny has dropped. The world knows AGW is a crock and nothing is going to change that reality. And the problem all along, George, was the very evidence to which you refer. The wider distrust of scientists was provoked by the thousands of white-coated whores who trousered the IPCCs cash, chased the grants and plaudits, and clamped their gobs firmly around the UN and EU teats.
By the way George, it is garbage like THIS that makes us tend toward rocks.
The Weekly Standard does a very good job documenting all of the scandals and forced retractions by the IPCC. As you might expect, there are rather more of them than have been published in the "mainstream" media. It makes for a long article, and taken together, they are incredibly damning. Having read them, I do not think "hoax" is too strong a word to describe these in
This new video is currently the featured clip on the Senate Democrats YouTube site. Its health insurance-bashing demagoguery and dumbing-down and cowardice and child exploitation at its worst. Watch what the Senate Democrats have entitled Young Health Care Activist Discusses Health Insurance Industry Abuses:
On Wednesday, I told you about how the Democrats have resurrected the kiddie human shield strategy to salvage their health care takeover plans. My column introduced you to the boy featured in the clip Marcelas Owens, who just turned 11:
One of President Obamas youngest lobbyists 11-year-old Marcelas Owens of Washington state traveled to D.C. on Tuesday on the dime of astroturf group, HCAN (Health Care for America Now). His 27-year-old mother, Tiffany, died of pulmonary hypertension. According to the family, Ms. Owens a single mother of three lost her job as a fast-food manager and lost her insurance. She received emergency care and treatment throughout her illness, but died in 2007.
Young Marcelas goaded by his left-wing activist grandmother and promoted by Democrat Sen. Patty Murray is now a regular on the pro-Obamacare circuit and is leading a congressional sit-in until the Democrat plan passes. He admits he doesnt understand the complexities of health insurance reform and doesnt think its anyones fault that his mom passed away. But they could have done more for her, he says.
Its a heart-wrenching story, but the tale raises more questions than it answers. Washington state offers a plethora of existing government assistance programs to laid-off and unemployed workers like Marcelass mom. Why didnt she enroll? Second, she died nine months after she reportedly lost her health insurance. By the time she lost her coverage through her employer, she was apparently already in dire health straits. Its not clear that additional doctors visits in the subsequent months would have prevented her death.
All that said, the Owens case demonstrates the flaws of the employer-based system of health insurance. It needs real reform. Unfortunately, the current crop of Democrat plans would leave the employer-based system fully intact. What we need are grown-ups to start over from scratch and leave the kids on the playground.
But just as he elevated youngster Graeme Frost to champion the S-CHIP entitlement expansion, Harry Reid put Marcelas Owens in front of the cameras to help deflect tough health care policy and political questions. It worked. Heres the superficial coverage from the NYTimes, which touts Marcelas as a new face in the health care debate and swallows the Owens family story whole without asking a single question of any independent state agency or outside source for verification:
Senate Democratic leaders on Thursday sought to put a human face on the health care debate, and a cute face at that.
Marcelas Owens, a fifth-grader from Seattle who turned 11 on Wednesday, joined Senate majority leader Harry Reid of Nevada and other senior Democrats at a news conference on Thursday.
We know health reform is not about numbers, its about people, Mr. Reid said. Its about pain, real pain, suffered by real people.
The boys mother, Tiffany Owens, died of pulmonary hypertension in 2007 at age 27 after losing her health insurance because she could no longer work. Ms. Owens had been an assistant manager at a Jack in the Box restaurant.
Imagine them taking any conservative opponents life story at face value (see: Joe the Plumber).
The Times fails to mention that Owens grandmother and family have been longtime activists for the left-wing, single-payer advocates of the Washington Community Action Network or that the boy and his grandmother traveled to Washington with sponsorship from the Astroturf lobbyists of the Health Care for America Now outfit, which characterized Marcelas as an insurance abuse survivor.
Never mind that there is not a shred of evidence that any health insurer ever abused Marcelas. Never mind that the family has made no claim that Marcelas himself has survived without insurance (in Washington state, low-income children have been covered either through Medicaid, SCHIP, or the SCHIP expansion program Apple Health for Kids). Newsbusters is also covering the MSMs soft-shoe coverage of the Democrats use of the Owens kiddie shield here, here, and here.
Not that gullible health care sob story coverage is anything new to the Times. See: Unbelievable update: The crappiest NYTimes column on Obamacare just got crappier; Update: Kristofs disingenuous non-response.
The usual hyperventilating from the Left horrible conservatives targeting poor, innocent kid! conservatives assault poor, innocent kid! just proves my point. Despite President Obamas repeated admonition that health care reform is a complex issue that cant be reduced to snippets, its exactly what Reid, Murray, Schumer, and his Owens grandmother propped up young Marcelas to do. Anyone who questions the narrative and absolute moral authority of the kiddie human shield is a heartless, right-wing stalker who should be vilified, if not arrested.
As always, the current ruling majority is incapable of holding an adult discussion on the costs and consequences of its plans.

Late last year, OKeefe and fellow activist Joe Basel went into the Detroit and Chicago offices of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) with a hidden camera. They pretended to be scam artists, asking employees there to participate in a complex kickback scheme involving federal incentives for first-time home buyers. In the excerpted footage shown to me by OKeefe, the staffers seemed only to happy to comply. The law says that the tax credit maxes out at $8,000 for an $80,000 home. On the tape, OKeefe asked a staffer, What if I bought a place for $50,000, but the seller and I agreed to write down $80,000 as the purchase price?
Flip it any way you want, the staffer replied.
What if the place is worth much less like only $6,000?
Yup, you can do that.
Thanks to WQ.
Leftists are having conniptions in the comments, there, insisting the tapes were edited, O'Keefe broke federal laws, should be in prison, etc.
As Mark Twain said, It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.
BLAST! I thought that was a Will Rogers quote -- but when I looked it up to get the quote right, everyone on the internet attributed it to Mark Twain.
For what that's worth.
There's some disagreement on that -- Wiki notes that there's no good source to base attributing it to Twain, and some attribute it to Will Rogers.

Disgraced ex-Rep. Eric Massa insists he never sexually abused anyone, but he filled his Capitol Hill rowhouse with low-paid male staffers in an arrangement ripe for trouble."It's like he had people trapped," said a Hill source.
...
At the house on E St. Southeast yesterday, which Massa had shared with five of his staffers, clothes were piled on the floor and half-a-dozen pairs of shoes mingled with dirty towels next to an open pink suitcase in the living room.
...
In hindsight, Democratic insiders wondered about activities that before had just seemed odd. They said Massa hired a surprisingly large percentage of young gay men, and paid them so little that staffers were forced to live in the house with him.
"It's not the gay part that's a problem, it's the abuse, if it's true," said one Hill source.
"The guy's a freak," a close friend of one embattled Massa aide told the Daily News

Al-Qaeda killer and former democratic operative, Sharif Mobley, worked at a nuclear plant in New Jersey.
Sharif Mobley, 26, shot his way out of a hospital in Yemen last week.
Al-Qaeda terrorist, Sharif Mobley, was arrested in Yemen earlier this year. The New Jersey man shot two men at a hospital in Yemen over the weekend after being arrested in the company of several al-Qaeda members. Sharif Mobley, 26, was quietly detained earlier this year by Yemeni authorities. He worked for former Democratic Governor Jon Corzines campaign in 2005.
Tonight it was reported that he worked at a New Jersey nuclear plant.
Astute Bloggers and AJC reported:
A New Jersey official says a suspected terrorist who worked at a complex of nuclear power plants did not breach security there.
Mike Drewniak, a spokesman for Gov. Chris Christie, says his office has been told that Sharif Mobley was supervised and had no problems when he worked at three power plants in Salem County from 2002 to 2008.
PSEG Nuclear spokesman Joe Delmar said Thursday that Mobley worked as a laborer for several contractors at the three plants and others in the region.
The 26-year-old Mobley, who grew up in New Jersey and later lived in Philadelphia and Newark, Del., is in custody in Yemen as a suspected member of al-Qaida.
A spokesman for the Yemeni Embassy in Washington says those charges have nothing to do with his employment at the plants.

Heres a snap for a fundraiser Dr. Utopia just did in Missouri for Robin Carnahans 2010 Senate bid, where the White House pretended it was for Claire McCaskills 2012 race instead, which makes no sense unless you remember how spectacularly Dr. Utopia failed in Virginia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, where any candidate he came 100 feet within radius of was shellacked at the polls by voters tired of the hopeychange nonsense.

Obama and the L-Word
Matt Welch | April 2010
The presidents habit of telling untruths...yet it smacks of something worse still. When a politician cannot fathom opposition to his policies except as the manifestation of wicked manipulation by bad guys, remediable only by more thorough explanations from the good guys, it indicates an unseemly paternalism. And if he cannot take the hint that Bush-Obama bailout-and-spend economics are deeply and increasingly unpopular, that indicates something immovable about his core economic ideology. With those two factors as backdrop, its hard to say which would be worse: if the president didnt really believe what he said, or if he did.
Big Brother Wants Your DNA |
Of course anyone could be arrested for anything at anytime and held for 24 hours then simply released. Theoretically, they could systematically roll through the whole population doing that.
Will the police be interested in doing this? Probably not. If Obama were to push this, and get it into law, the police would likely view it as an unfunded federal mandate. The bureaucratic and lab infrastructure needed to implement such a scheme pervasively would be truly massive. The 2006 FBI UCR says that over 14,000,000 arrests of all sorts happened in the USA that year (not counting traffic violations). That's over 38,000 arrests/day on average.
Clearly, the lab capacity to handle that number of DNA samples daily and physically process them is non-trivial. Of course, for those samples to have any future legal value, everything would have to be handled with rigid chain of custody procedures, and original physical samples warehoused under lock and key.
Impact on things like witness protection programs and such is plainly a concern as well. A host of privacy and potential abuse issues are so obvious they don't even need mention.

A little background on the latest exploited child Democrat face of the crying need for healthcare reform.
From the Seattle Times:
Healthcare For America Now is Mr. Obamas professional army of lobbyists for healthcare reform. They are funded by George Soros and the SEIU and the rest of the usual suspects.
The Washington Community Action Network is a part of the Soros funded HCAN mentioned above.
So instead of helping the young mother when she was in dire need, they are exploiting her death and her child for their agenda.
But none of our media masters will ever deign to tell us the rest of the story.
RINO Senator Lindsey Tell the bigots to shut up Graham and far left Senator Chuck Schumer presented their amnesty plan to Barack Obama yesterday. The two senators want to ram through amnesty by the end of the year.
Colorado should repeal the Amazon Tax. But whats going on here is Colorado legislators anger that theres something they dont control:
Actually, if anyone ever needed an obvious illustration of how government overreach can damage an economy, they need look no further than the Colorado legislatures foolish attempt to wheedle a few extra bucks out of consumers via an Internet sales tax. . . . One only wishes that citizens could boycott irascible and intrusive state legislators with their knee-jerk, ill-informed, anti-capitalist sentiment who are willing to risk the jobs of thousands of citizens for a couple million bucks in the states coffers.
And follow the link for the sputtering anger of Colorado Senate Majority Leader John Morse. Its not even about the money. Its about the control.
Driving Hazards More Dangerous Than Unintended Acceleration.
Barack Obama tripled the national deficit his first year in office. It will be larger this year.
Obama dropped his monopoly line again this week while he was in St. Charles, Missouri at his health care rally in front of supporters and campaign contributors (he locked out the public):
As we were driving in, I was saying, boy, its just good to be back in the Midwest, this is about as close as Ive been to home in a while. And part of the reason its just good to be back is because Washington is a place where tax dollars are often treated like Monopoly money theyre bartered and traded, and theyre divvied up among lobbyists and special interests, and where waste even billions of dollars of waste is accepted as the price of doing business. When we proposed, by the way, those $20 billion in cuts last year, we were ridiculed by the press, said, Ah, thats just a spit in the bucket. Now, I dont know about here in St. Charles, $20 billion, thats real money, isnt it?
Reason says this is an example of a gag-inducing paragraph.
The last time Obama used his Monopoly line was the same day he proposed another record spending bill that cost taxpayers $3.8 trillion and raised the national deficit to $1.6 trillion.
And, on December 21, 2009 he said the same thing about taxpayer dollars:
We cant continue to spend as if deficits dont have consequences; as if waste doesnt matter; as if the hard-earned tax dollars of the American people can be treated like Monopoly money.
This was the same day that democrats spent $1.2 billion to bribe fellow democrats to vote for Obamacare.

Its a very emotional day here at Buzzquarters.
Not sure what triggered it, but we fully accept today that the current government in Washington is completely mad and hellbent on destroying this country.
We do not believe its possible for the Left to ram their Healthcare Rationing bill through Congress, but we believe they will indeed try every insane trick they can conjure to attempt it.
Absolute all-out political war needs to be declared on every Democrat in office if they do not rise up against the madness of their own party and put a stop to this immediately.
A national, coast-to-coast, Resistance needs to form and mobilize in this country, rising up from the Tea Party movement itself and take back this government at the ballot box in November.
Every Democrat, in every district, in every state, needs to be booted from office.
Start thinking this weekend how you can help the Resistance form, and what you can do to take back this nation and rescue it from the brink of destruction.
Obama's new proposed debt ups the ante in a huge way:

Some in America are faring far worse than others under Obama, and ironically, many of his most ardent and loyal supporters are the hardest hit:
In last year's election, 96 percent of black Americans voted for President Obama. Since then, they have suffered immeasurable harm, harm that could have been eased by these and other conservative policies.
Can you hear us, now?
I am one of those typical Americans who has lived much of my life in a political dead zone. Life has been good, and Politics have been in the distant background most of my life. There were stretches when I didnt even vote. I was oblivious.
Fast forward to 2008. I smelled snake oil with Obama and I couldnt put my finger on it, other than the shady connection with ACORN. At that time I was only getting my news from the lame stream media. The week before the election my brother & I were celebrating our birthdays, and I realized that everyone in the room (except me) was seized by the fever of Obamamania. And then my brothers liberal girlfriend singled me out by saying with your feelings about guns do you have to vote for McCain? Bitch, I thought. Time to educate myself about what I knew I didnt like, but was unable to articulate.
I began to realize that it was a luxury to take for granted our constitution and all the freedoms that I enjoyed. Perhaps in the past I was living in a more innocent time. Or perhaps not. But today that luxury has vanished. Today we must be vigilant to the forces that are FAST at work to destroy our way of life. Read the rest of this entry »
"See the theme here? And these things point to the person that is Stacey Hopkins, the CNN rosy-profiled, Coffee Party organizer (I mean, anti-capitalist extremist, oops, my bad). Does the press not even have access to Google? Are they simply just so ideologically bent and lazy? To think, Stacey Hopkins is only one of 5 people profiled in the CNN article. I found this information in one hour...Mr. Fiscal Conservative Alex Oxford is a big time gay rights activist. Just two questions. Five liberals at this Coffee Party chapter? "

House Speaker Nancy Pelosis deficient cleaning service

Maybe it will take a woman to clean up the House, Nancy Pelosi boasted before the 2006 mid-term elections and over again. Looks like those XX chromosomes didnt give her much advantage over the old cleaning crew. The swamp she was supposed to drain is overflowing. And less than four years after a sordid sexual predation scandal involving a creepy congressman rocked the Republican Party, a sordid sexual predation scandal involving a creepy congressman is now rocking the Democrat Party.
The same questions that dogged House leaders then are dogging House Speaker Pelosi now: What did she and her staff know and when did they know it?
On Thursday afternoon, by a vote of 402-1, the House overwhelmingly passed a privileged resolution offered by the Republican leadership demanding a formal House Ethics Committee investigation of Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her (mis)handling of harassment allegations concerning disgraced former New York Rep. Eric Massa. The soft-on-corruption ethics panel (see under Rangel, Charlie) had decided to shut down its investigation after Massa abruptly resigned on Monday.
But with reports piling up on how Massa kept a Capitol Hill playhouse filled with young, low-paid male staffers and how Pelosis office had fielded complaints of his bizarre and inappropriate behavior back in October, the House decided to pry the lid back open and put a stop to what the resolution calls the public ridicule that the seeming cover-up has invited.
Housecleaner Pelosi cannot be pleased by the second-guessing of her handiwork. Color her an un-merry maid. Even Democrat Rep. Patrick Kennedy, fresh from his raving House floor meltdown over media coverage of the Massa mess, voted for the GOP-initiated House resolution. Finally: Bipartisanship we can believe in!
With the exception of lone House Democrat Rep. Chaka Fattah who voted no and 27 members (including those who sit on the House Ethics Committee) who voted present or not voting, every other member of Pelosis House supported the petition to direct the Committee on Standards of Official to investigate fully which House Democratic leaders and members of their respective staffs had knowledge prior to March 3, 2010 of the aforementioned allegations concerning Mr. Massa, and what actions each leader and staffer having any such knowledge took after learning of the allegations. [The demand will now be referred to the Ethics Committee.]
The resolution stipulates that numerous confusing and conflicting media reports that House Democratic leaders knew about, and may have failed to handle appropriately, allegations that Rep. Massa was sexually harassing his own employees have raised serious and legitimate questions about what Speaker Pelosi as well as other Democratic leaders and their respective staffs were told, and what those individuals did with the information in their possession.
Democrat Rep. Barney Frank, who earned a House Ethics Committee slap on the wrist in 1990 after using his congressional office to fix parking tickets for male prostitute Steven Gobie, was one of those leaders in the know. After voting for the resolution, he disclosed for the first time that Massa had invited one of his young staffers to dinner. Although this was not an ethical violation, Frank said in a published statement, one of his senior staffers who was informed of the dinner alerted former Rep. Massas Chief of Staff, Joe Racalto.
In other words: Franks office knew it smelled illicit. And Barney Frank would know.
Racalto went on to contact Pelosis office directly in October. Tick, tick, tick. Five months later, in the wake of Massas own self-professed proclivity for tickle parties and victim/witness accounts of Massas alleged sexual assaults on his Navy underlings, Pelosi is pooh-poohing the scandal: I have a job to do and not to be the receiver of rumors. Translation: Dont bother me with concerns about my members indiscretions. Im busy. How quickly weve accelerated from the most ethical House ever to see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.
There was a time when Pelosi the protector held House leaders to the highest standards and expectations in guarding young people working on Capitol Hill. During the GOP Mark Foley scandal, she inveighed: The children who work as Pages in the Congress are Members special trust. Statements by the Republican Leadership indicate that they violated this trust when they were made aware of the Internet stalking of an underage Page by Mr. Foley and covered it up for six months to a year.
Yet, she remains silent on the plight of the twentysomethings whom Massa was keeping house with under circumstances that rate an Ick Factor of 10+. Massas alleged targets are someones children, too.
Deflecting accountability for her own offices violations of trust, Pelosi feigned sympathy for Massa and attributed his impaired ethical judgment to his medical condition (he has cancer). Poor baby, she said through gritted teeth. Hes a very sick person. So, whats Pelosis excuse?

Update 11:30am Eastern. Pelosi made a brief press appearance to appear in command of the health care reform debate. She said the House would take as long as it needed and then floated a March 21 deadline, on which she said she was happy Obama would be in attendance to sign a bill. Says public option will not be in this bill. Addressed parliamentary debate tussle from yesterday and asserted that once we pass the Senate bill, it will be law. Talked about student loan nationalization as part of reconciliation package. In order for the Senate to do reconciliation, President must first sign the bill.
More from Daniel Foster at NRO:
It is looking increasingly likely that Pelosi will employ the Slaughter Rule, a complex legislative maneuver that could allow the House to avoid a direct up-or-down vote on the Senate bill.
In a conference call with reporters, including NRO, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) commented on the Houses plan.
It doesnt solve their political problem, McConnell said of the maneuver. The Cornhusker Kickback, the Louisiana Purchase, Gator-Aid. . . .Every member of the House of Representatives who votes for the Senate bill will have voted for all these things.
McConnell continued, saying the employment of the Slaughter Rule would at best reveal House Democrats as flip-floppers. Its not solvable. . .. And even if by some hook or crook or maneuver or parliamentary device some of [the special deals] will be removed, then the position they will be in is that they will have voted for these measures before they voted against them.
The reason all this arm-twisting and parliamentary maneuvers is going on is because people hate this bill, McConnell said.
But CongressDaily reports that, despite a key ruling from the Senate parliamentarian that the reconciliation process cannot start until the Senate bill is passed by the House and signed into law, the House is undeterred in pursuing the rule as a means of passing health-care reform.
And from Allahpundit:
Precisely because of the Slaughter strategy, its not the Senate bill that the House will be voting on. Theyll be voting on the reconciliation fix, which will be deemed to include the Senate bill but which hasnt even been written yet. Will that be ready 72 or 48 or 24 hours before the vote on? No one knows. Although honestly, at this point, I hope it isnt. Id prefer to see them finish the bill an hour before the vote, or else to pass a completely blank reconciliation bill and then fill in whatever provisions they like at a meeting with Obama afterwards. Thats the only truly fitting way to end this fiasco that, or having the bill fail narrowly during the House vote, at which point Pelosi would rise and somehow simply deem it as having passed. The more illegitimate this thing is, the greater the (admittedly small) chance that the GOP can roll back parts of it later. So heres to Democrats getting really, really crazy with the cheese whiz.
Just a minute, he yelled back, Im almost finished."

For the FIRST time since Barbara Boxer ran for the Senate in 1992, this evening I recieved a phone call from one of her supporters asking for my vote (and money). I was happy to tell her that for the FIRST time I will not be voting for Barbara Boxer (nor will I be giving her a donation). When Barbara Boxer has to ask for the votes of Democrats, you know shes in trouble.
Sarah Palin marvels at meeting Angie Langley as she is welcomed to the stage at the Orange County Republican Executive Committee Lincoln Day Dinner, at the Rosen Shingle Creek, in Orlando, Friday. Langley is known for her web site lambasting democratic Rep. Alan Grayson. (Orlando Sentinel)
Sarah Palin blasted Obama, his fellow radicals in Washington DC and crazed democrat Alan Grayson in her talk tonight in Florida.
The Orlando Sentinel reported:
Sarah Palin lashed out at Washington, the media and condescending liberals Friday night at an Orlando Republican fund-raising event, and predicted the GOP would restore common sense to government in the upcoming November elections.
Palin said those notes she wrote on her hand at a National Tea Party event where the media and White House later busted me for using a poor-mans teleprompter explained just what the country needed: a strong energy policy, tax cuts; and lifting Americas spirits.
Americans get it, Palin said. In Washington, they dont get it.
The wildly popular, but equally polarizing former vice presidential candidate packed the Orange County Republican Partys annual Lincoln Day fundraiser, attracting 1,300 fans to the Shingle Creek Resort. Orange GOP Chairman Lew Oliver said he expected the event to net the party more than $110,000.
Orlando was the latest stop in Palins high-mileage speaking tour. She spoke in Daytona Beach last month, headlined an Ohio Right to Life Society fundraiser last Friday, and landed in Calgary, Canada, the next day. Later this month, Palin will help raise re-election funds for U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the man who plucked her from relative obscurity to be his running mate in the 2008 presidential race.
On Friday, Palin advocated drilling for oil and natural gas to gain energy independence but said nothing specifically about such exploration off Floridas coast, a source of heated political dispute.
While advocating for standard GOP issues lower taxes, less spending, more freedom and smaller government Palin also singled out one Central Florida Democratic politician: U.S Rep. Alan Grayson of Orlando. Palin said voters need to remove the fiery millionaire lawyer in November.
Do it for the rest of America, she said in a speech lasting about 40 minutes.
Amen. Get rid of that awful kook, Florida.

An NBC reporter actually stumbled upon an economic truth. It was an accident. It wasn't intentional, but still the NBC reporter got it right. Andrea Mitchell was talking to the correspondent Rehema Ellis about schools closing in Kansas City and elsewhere because of budget shortfalls, and Andrea Mitchell, NBC News, Washington, said, "This is not just Kansas City. This is the most drastic case we've seen so far, but this is a ripple effect we're seeing from the recession. What is going to happen to the students there and elsewhere across the country?"
ELLIS: It's simple, too, Andrea, you know, we hear a lot of people complain about the excesses of Wall Street here in New York and people getting big bonuses. But when they get those bonuses, that money then is taxed. That tax goes into state coffers. Those states then are able to give money to the schools. When it's not there, guess what? That means the money's not there for the schools and education, so that ripple effect comes down and it's starting to hit a lot of people at home and it's starting to hit our kids in the schools.
RUSH: Now, this infobabe Rehema Ellis is going to be embarrassed when I point out that she's justifying Ronald Reagan trickle-down economics. She's just defined supply-side economics. Well, you know, we hear a lot of people complaining about the excesses of Wall Street here in New York and people getting big bonuses, but when they get those bonuses that money's taxed.

Health Reform: So it's come down to this desperate Democratic leaders strong-arming members on the worst bill ever before they go home to explain to constituents why they decided to commit political suicide.
We've said just about all we've had to say on this issue actually dating back to 1993-94, when we wrote nearly 100 editorials in opposition to HillaryCare. Since January of last year, we've weighed in 150 more times against the latest version of socialized medicine.
But to review, here are just 15 reasons why a government takeover of the finest medical system in the world makes no sense at all:
1. The people don't want it! This, we would think, should have some bearing on decision-making. Yet the Democrats forge ahead without consent of the governed. In the latest Rasmussen poll, 53% opposed the Democrats' reform while 42% were in favor. More than four in 10 "strongly" opposed; just two in 10 "strongly" favored. This jibes with other surveys, including our own IBD/TIPP Poll, taken since last year.
3. Half the Congress doesn't want it! Not a single Republican backed the health care bill that cleared the Senate on Christmas Eve 60-39. House passage was by a slim 220 to 215, and the lone Republican "aye" has since switched to "no." Columnist Michael Barone says other changes would put the House vote today at 216-215 in favor, and he has doubts Democrats can even muster 216.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made her job of securing yes votes even more difficult last week when she told a meeting of county officials that "we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it." Members of Congress aren't waiting: They've already exempted themselves from whatever they inflict on us.

Meet Constitution-butchers Nancy Pelosi and Louise Slaughter.
Cleaning House by bloodying it:
Photoshop exclusive: Big Fur Hat at iowntheworld.com and Applecross Media
Via Doug Ross:
In the Slaughter Solution, the rule would declare that the House deems the Senate version of Obamacare to have been passed by the House. House members would still have to vote on whether to accept the rule, but they would then be able to say they only voted for a rule, not for the bill itself.
Thus, Slaughter is preparing a rule that would consider the Senate bill passed once the House approves a corrections bill that would make changes. Democrats would thereby avoid a direct vote on the health care bill while allowing it to become law!
Constitutional attorney Mark R. Levin asks, Theyre going to present a rule, issued by her committee as chairman, that says that the House already adopted the Senate bill when we know it didnt?
U.S Constitution, Article I, Section VII, Clause II.
Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States; If he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the Objections at large on their Journal, and proceed to reconsider it. If after such Reconsideration two thirds of that House shall agree to pass the Bill, it shall be sent, together with the Objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a Law. But in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be determined by Yeas and Nays, and the Names of the Persons voting for and against the Bill shall be entered on the Journal of each House respectively
According to Levin, James Madison himself gave special care and attention to this clause in the Constitution.
Levin: And do you want to know why? Because this clause goes to the heart of this Republic.
This clause goes to the heart of how our representative body, that is Congress, makes laws. And so I want you to [observe] how particular the Framers were They have to pass a Bill to present it to the President
This is one of the most exacting clauses in the Constitution.
And, to the best of my knowledge, which extends over three decades, no Congress has previously tried to institute policies without actual statutes.
Here we have the President of the United States and Congressional leaders actually talking about the possibility of a brazen and open violation of one of the most fundamental aspects of our Constitution and Republic! How we actually make laws!
Let me be as clear as I know how. If this is done, this will create the greatest Constitutional crisis since the Civil War. It would be 100 times worse than Watergate.
It would be government by fiat meaning there would be no law the mere discussion by officials in this government is such a grotesque violation of the actual legislative function of Congress [that it] puts us at the brink. At the brink.
This is why we conservatives revere the Constitution. This is why we stress the Constitutions words have meaning and historical context and must be complied with. Because otherwise we have anarchy, which leads to tyranny.
This is a crucial lesson for those of you who arent sure what your beliefs are, or if you have any beliefs. Or arent sure if you even care. We have an effort underway by the one of the most powerful chairmen in Congress, the woman who heads the Rules Committee, openly discussing gutting Congress. Gutting Congress.
***
And it indeed appears to be unprecedented. Mark Tapscott at the Examiner:
Members of the U.S. House of Representatives have never before been asked to pass legislation by deeming it approved under a House rule instead of following the process required by the U.S. Constitution in which they actually vote on the proposal itself, according to a senior aide to House Republicans.
The procedure dubbed by critics as the Slaughter Solution is the brain-child of House Rules Committee Chairman Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-NY, who, at the request of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, is trying to fashion a rule that would allow the House to move toward passage of a health care reform bill without a recorded vote on the Senate version.
Like the Senate, which adopted its health care reform measure on Christmas Eve, the House passed its version last year. But there are major differences between the two measures, especially concerning federal funding of abortions. The Senate version includes billions of dollars to fund new health care clinics that would offer abortion services. The House bill was passed only after Rep. Bart Stupaks amendment barring federal funding for the procedure was included.
Slaughters approach would bring to the House floor a reconcilliation bill to resolve differences between the House and Senate versions of health care reform with the rule deeming the House to have approved the Senate version. The GOP aide, who requested anonymity, said a search of the House archives failed to reveal any previous use of the Slaughter Solution.

The trigger for your reaction, Hillbuzz? Mark Levin explained it last night and the night before.
When Congress invokes the Slaughter Rule, it will have declared the Constitution null and void.

THE PRESIDENT IS NOT A BRAND.
From the comments: President Edsel.
"If he is not a produt or a brand, why does the White House get into such a tizzy when his image, his campaign logo, Hope and Change, or anything related to him or what he said are used in commercials?
The guy is a product. They just cannot decide if he is cat food, dog food, tampons, deodorant, beer, chips, Dinty Moore Stew, or Hormel Chili."

The key to taking down bad Democrats is cutting off their revenue streams.
Apply pressure to donors, keep the donors from giving money to these lunatics, and bad Democrats just go away.
They will NOT self-finance their own campaigns. If wealthy, misguided, celebrity-obsessed people in cities like Chicago, who give money to campaigns because they want their pictures taken with famous people, dont want to be associated with a candidate who is getting bad press and whose picture they cant be proud to have on their walls, then they wont give those people any money.
The Department of Commerce just release some new lies to replace the old and stale lies.(PDF doc)
The U.S. Census Bureau announced today that advance estimates of U.S. retail and food services sales for February, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $355.5 billion, an increase of 0.3 percent (±0.5%)* from the previous month and 3.9 percent (±0.5%) above February 2009. Total sales for the December 2009 through February 2010 period were up 4.5 percent (±0.3%) from the same period a year ago. The December 2009 to January 2010 percent change was revised from +0.5 percent (±0.5%)* to +0.1 percent (±0.3%)*.When your figures are off by say up to 30% people don't raise too many eyebrows, but when you've blown it by several hundred percent, methodology has to come into question.

Three weeks ago, Representative Joe Sestak said that the President had offered him a political appointment if he wouldn't run against Senator Arlen Specter. This should have been a bombshell, but it has gone largely unremarked because the White House is successfully avoiding the issue.
Sestak is sticking by his earlier statement, though he's chosen not to expand on it. The White House's silence on the issuethe Administration is not even denying the chargeis beginning to look like guilt. So what could the President be guilty of? This is not my area of law, but there are a few options:
18 U.S.C. § 211 Acceptance or solicitation to obtain appointive public officeWhoever solicits or receives, either as a political contribution, or for personal emolument, any money or thing of value, in consideration of the promise of support or use of influence in obtaining for any person any appointive office or place under the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.
Whoever solicits or receives any thing of value in consideration of aiding a person to obtain employment under the United States either by referring his name to an executive department or agency of the United States or by requiring the payment of a fee because such person has secured such employment shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.
The sticking point is whether dropping out of the primary is "any thing of value." Some states define the term. Federal statute does not.
The next one is more likely:
18 U.S.C. § 600. Promise of employment or other benefit for political activityWhoever, directly or indirectly, promises any employment, position, compensation, contract, appointment, or other benefit, provided for or made possible in whole or in part by any Act of Congress, or any special consideration in obtaining any such benefit, to any person as consideration, favor, or reward for any political activity or for the support of or opposition to any candidate or any political party in connection with any general or special election to any political office, or in connection with any primary election or political convention or caucus held to select candidates for any political office, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.
That sounds just like what happened here, if Sestak's claim is true. Obama promised an appointment as a consideration for political activity, including support for Arlen Specter, in a primary election.
And then there's the long-shot, which I will clean up a bit because it's a gobbledy-mess. The sticking point here is whether the President can be considered to be "employed in any administrative position." The statute seems aimed at hiring officials:
18 U.S.C. § 595. Interference by administrative employees of Federal, State, or Territorial GovernmentsWhoever, being a person employed in any administrative position by the United States, or by any department or agency thereof...uses his official authority for the purpose of interfering with, or affecting, the nomination or the election of any candidate for the office of President, Vice President, Presidential elector, Member of the Senate, Member of the House of Representatives, Delegate from the District of Columbia, or Resident Commissioner, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.
The White House owes us answers. There may be a criminal living in the West Wing.

Code Red - House Target List on Health Care
The National Republican Congressional Committee has published a target list on health care. In addition to continuing to contact the five Tennessee Democrat Congressmen, you can go http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/94697.aspx to contact some of these targets. Much of the talk following Obamas announcement has focused on how to defeat this second bill through reconciliation, but that is misleading because the first step to defeating Obamacare is not by concentrating on defeating the fixer bill but by defeating the Senate bill in the House when it goes to the floor for an up-or-down vote on Thursday, March 18th.

Last night, we were all at Roscoes here in Boystown, having our first pitcher of Green Miller Lite for St. Patricks Day, where Panda was telling us about a crazy person who think shes James Browns illegitimate daughter, and is convinced his bodys been stolen from his crypt and is being hidden somewhere just so no one can ever prove the things shes saying are true. Sheer and utter madness.
On the part of Panda who not only believes the woman, but goes a step further and says, I dont think hes even really dead. I think he just wanted to retire, but people wouldnt leave him alone, so he faked his death and is living the good life somewhere in secret, like in Death Becomes Her. Thats a movie in which Panda also believes Marilyn, Greta Garbo, James Dean, Jim Morrison, and Elvis played themselves, secretly, as an in-joke in party scenes where long-dead celebrities are shown to have drunk magic potions to keep them alive forever. Panda, inexplicably Chicagolands number one Michael Jackson fan, is more convinced than ever by the James Brown crypt eviction nonsense that MJ is still alive, well, and moonwalking somewhere. He just didnt want to be bothered anymore, and is doing fine in Switzerland or Dubai, and in like 30 years someone will tell when hes really dead and the secret is safe.
We swear, we only had the one pitcher of Green Beer. And we shared it four ways. So, where Panda gets this stuff is just beyond us.
But it makes us think about what Democrats are doing these days actually working to usurp the Constitution and trying to cram their Healthcare Rationing bill through Congress without the House voting on it.
The way the Constitution reads, for a bill to become law the Senate and the House must both pass the exact same bill. Then, once its passed in both Chambers, it goes to the White House to be signed or vetoed.
Democrats wrongly, and unconstitutionally, believe they can take the bill the Senate passed on Christmas Eve, in secret, in the dead of night, and claim its as good as passed in the House, without the House actually passing it. Then, they want to just shunt that Senate bill to the White House for passage.
We dont see how its possible for them to succeed in this, but lets operate for a second under the assumption they can get away with that. Lets just say they do it. The White House signs it. It becomes law.
In the vernacular of people like us, children of the 80s, its the equivalent of moving the Death Star within firing range of Alderaan and letting slip a giant, lethal blast of planet-killing destructive energy.
Only, in our example, its not a planet theyll destroy (so, calm down Al Gore, no chance here of setting up a new apocalyptic cult for yourself), or a nation, or the Constitution.
No, if these lunatics do this, they will destroy the Democrat Party. Utterly and completely. There wont even be asteroids the size of cookie crumbs left when the dust settles on this.
If you know Star Wars, youll realize the moment the Empire destroyed Alderaan, using its most destructive and in-you-face weapon for the first time, was when it really lost the Galactic Civil War. By doing something so horrible, so unimaginable, so abusive of power, it steeled Princess Leia Organa into the no-holds-barred freedom fighter she became in the opening scenes of Empire Strikes Back, leading rebel efforts on the icy moon of Hoth, ditching her flowing, halycon white princess robes for the no-nonsense gear of a woman determined to bring the Empire down at all costs and restore democracy to the Republic.
THAT is whats going to happen to people all across this country if Democrats aim and point a weapon of mass destruction at the Constitution. The energy unleashed will not come from the party, but from the PEOPLE, who will direct a massive blast of American common sense and patriotism at the DNC, and we believe nothing at all will remain standing.
We do not believe there will still exists a Democrat party after 2012 if the three socialist fools standing on the bridge of the White Houses insane version of the Death Star do what they have sworn they will do. Obama. Pelosi. Reid. The three people who will fully reveal the Democrat Part to be the anti-American destructive force it has become.
We dont believe theyll succeed in firing that Death Star, but if they do, they will the ones who will ultimately be destroyed, because in doing something so heinous and unimaginable, they will wake a sleeping giant.
Guys like us will commit full time to doing everything we can to bringing every Democrat out there, at all levels down.
Housewives will stop shuttling the kids to all manner of nonsense like karate classes, and finally realize theres more important things to do than race around in minivans all day. They will stay home and create Coffee Clubs in their kitchens, where they will gather together neighbors and plot strategy for taking back the country.
Union guys, who always have done what their Union masters have told them, will finally think for themselves, get off the comfy leather Union-enabled Barcoloungers, and will decide, Thats it. Ive had enough of this socialist crap. Time to kick butt and save America.
All across the country this will happen.
A Resistance will form.
In Cleveland. And Mineral City. And Chicago. And Pittsburgh. And San Antonia. And Rochester. And New York.
All of our home towns.
All of yours.
And somewhere, in the West, like Leia of Alderaan, we believe a strong woman will emerge to lead the Resistance and take back our government starting in 2010, and culminating in 2012 when she heads to the White House herself to clean up the biggest mess left of our government since the Civil War.
In Wasilla, Alaska, youll find her.
The Force is strong in her.
May the love of country be as strong in all of us because at this moment in history we need it. And America needs us all to remain vigilant and strong in the face of unimaginable Democrat-wielded horrors.
Whats next? Are they going to deem that this list of people were duly elected in the Nov elections and thus we no longer need to have the elections?
A few days ago on this site, we discussed the ban on recreational fishing that is headed our way.
Well, the power grab goes so much further than that.
Dr. Kate puts it all together in a comprehensive, but frightening way:

First, a rant on just how wasteful, in terms of money and man-hours, recycling is. Which isn't to say that some recycling isn't worth it. Just that a lot of the time, all that meticulous sorting isn't really doing a lick of good. Not to mention, those recycling nazis that wander around harassing people for not putting the trash in the right bin.
Second, a follow-up with helpful links to just-the-facts-ma'am news articles on the subject.
To Leftists and liberals, everything in the entire world is nothing but fake labels, and therefore can be countered with a contrasting labelled falsehood. So they create coffee parties to try to contrast the Tea Party movement.
What they literally cannot comprehend is the reality behind the Tea party label - that if Tea Parties were not called Tea Parties, they would still exist.
Last Wednesday President Barack Obama flew into St. Louis to give a private talk to supporters on his plan to have government take over the US health care industry. He also held a fundraiser with local liberals including his puppet senator, Claire McCaskill.
His arrival did not go unnoticed. 2,225 patriots turned out in St. Charles in the morning to rally against his socialist policies. Another 2,000 patriots turned out that night to protest outside of his fundraiser including this grandmother.
(Keyboard Militia)
She sat in her wheelchair and waved her Dont Tread on Me flag. She came to the protest with her three daughters. She put tape over her mouth to represent that her concerns do not matter in Washington DC. She was at the rally outside the Obama-McCaskill fundraiser for two hours before it got dark and she went home. She just wanted to show her support.
She loves her country and she loves her freedom.
** On Tuesday there is another rally planned in Washington DC.
Date & Time: March 16, 2010 from 9am to 6pm
Location: Cannon House Office Building
Street: Independence Avenue SE and New Jersey SE
City: Washington, DC
Website or Map: http://maps.google.com/maps?f
Phone: 202-942-7616
Event Type: lobbying, against, obamacare, 2.0
Organized By: Kahryn Rombach and Brendan Steinhauser of FreedomWorks.org
Dan Riehl put out this alert today:
The Lefts political arguments must be confronted forcefully, even outrageously at times if thats what it takes to get through. Think of it in terms of what Andrew Breitbart is doing in the world of media activism today.
He is calling them out, confronting them, exposing them for what they are and what they believe. And when you prick them like that, they do bleed. Figuratively speaking, if we dont make them bleed, we will lose. We have been playing politely for decades now. And America has only continued its slide to the Left. And in the face of a pending vote on Obama Care, there is no more room left to give.
Im not advocating violence. But I am advocating confrontation. Otherwise, most especially now, this one in the White House and his Congressional colleagues seem content to ignore you to shine you on and you will get only what they choose to give you in the end. That is not the lot of the free man, or woman. It is the lot of the slave, the serf, if you prefer.
Thats why you have to try as best you can to be in DC on March 16th. Its time to prick, poke, and prod them and make their house of cards cave in. If you dont do it, now, dont expect your children, or your grandchildren to do it. If, or when, it becomes their turn on your behalf, when theyre getting ready to pull the plug on you because, well, youve lived long enough, theyll go along, just as you might now. Without our example, future generations of Americans will have no example to follow, let alone believe in.
Show up and be heard, or be herded. There are no other choices. This is the time. And if you dont speak out, it may well be the last. They have blatantly admitted this is but a first step. What in Gods name does it take for some of you people to get mad? If the last few months havent been enough, then your freedom may already be lost. In that case, its still your duty to stir yourself to action and begin to take it back on March 16th. Waiting for someone else to do it for you will only assure you of freedom lost. And that is not and has never been the America and the American people Ive come to know.
This may be our last best chance to stop Obamacare.
Seriously, while CNN and the NYTimes have studiously been avoiding the astroturfed origins of the "Coffee Party", reporter George Bennett has been laying it all out in south Florida paper the Palm Beach Post.
Now, you don't get credit for doing the right thing. But I give George a heckuva pat on the back for his follow-up reporting from the Coffee Party event this afternoon. As my twitter-pal @OneFineJay says, it truly deserves a "Not on the Onion" label for its humor, irony, and overall tone. I give it a B-plus.
This is not an auspicious beginning to a political movement:
Venting about the conservative tea party movement and talking at times heatedly about the need for civility in public discourse marked the debut meeting of a local "coffee party" group today."Frankly, we are petrified by the tea party and what they stand for and what they're talking about," said Monte Carmel, a retired business executive from West Palm Beach.
"I'm tired of all the misinformation, the cute little labels the fright-wing has thrown on everything," said a man named Russ.
"We have to stop the mantra of no taxes, no taxes, no taxes," said Marcia Halpern of Palm Beach Gardens.
Brownstein, who is white, said "white southerners in this country are going nuts" because of the popularity of black figures like President Obama and Oprah Winfrey. He said he raised the issue because "you have to know who your enemy is."
[...]
Mary Castronuovo of Palm Beach Gardens said she doesn't want the coffee party to be defined by its criticism of the tea party.
"I would be discouraged if this group became just a counter to the tea party," she said. "We can't make them the enemy."
Don't worry, sister. There's already a group counter to the Tea Party: Democrats.
Via Allah.
Weve been reading a lot of comments on sites like Redstate and Ace of Spades, where the usual tight khaki pants and blue blazers brigade of young, Romney Republicans keep saying things like We doooooomed! Doooooomed! We should just give up because theres no way to stop Democrats from destroying the Republic! Doooooomed!.
Eeyores.
When the going gets tough, these little punks always just give up. They like to strut around at cocktail parties, and love networking opportunities, and ADORE posting defeatist nonsense on websites, but do any of these little punks ever get out and fight for anything and stick to their guns? Do they love ANYTHING in life enough to put down the rocks glass, suit up, possibly buy a cup (or a pair), and act like men for a change?
EXACTLY. What the Democrats are trying to do with the Slaughter Rule will absolutely destroy our constitution. If this happens next week is going to be UG-LY. People still are not understanding this. You HAVE to understand the implications of bypassing the constitution. This is an act of a dictatorship. This is what Hugo Chavez does. This is what the old Soviet Union did. This is not just trickery by the Democrats. This is ANARCHY. WE HAVE TO FIGHT.
Is America Worth Fighting For?
Yes.
And for those who doubt, understand. America is the last frontier. Unless you are a penguin and can live in Antarctica, there are no free lands left. This is it. Our last stand.
So fight:
China is preparing to drill in our backyard near Florida.
In 2009 Democrats scrapped oil and gas leases in Utah, permanently banned drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), and nixed offshore drilling.
For decades Democrats have blocked efforts to responsibly develop this nations energy resources, transforming vast areas of opportunity into The No Zone.
A recent study examined the cost of these democratic policies of not drilling and developing domestic oil reserves. The SAIC Corporation discovered that democrats will cost the US $2.36 Trillion through 2029.
And then theres this
Obamas Secretary of Energy recently announced a three-year offshore drilling ban.
Investors Business Daily reported, via Planet Gore:
Our secretary of energy pushes bio-refineries and windmills to oil executives at an energy conference as the administration announces a three-year offshore drilling ban. This is a policy for economic suicide.
They dont qualify as an official group of victims, but carbon-Americans, as they have been called, did not have much to cheer about last week, when Energy Secretary Steven Chu addressed CERAWeek 2010, a premier industry conference hosted by IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates.
With an economy struggling to regain sound footing, Chu advocated a starvation diet devoid of additional fossil fuels that are to remain under the ground and seabed. Instead, he supports 53% more funding for wind research and a 22% jump for solar research.
Subsidizing alternative energy fits the classic definition of insanity. Despite huge subsidies, it has proved to be neither cost-effective nor a reliable, significant contributor to our national power grid. Yet we keep subsidizing it, expecting a different result.
Oil is an ideal transportation fuel, so it will be with us for decades, Chu conceded, even as the administration forbids us from getting more of it here, creating energy jobs, lowering energy costs and cutting our trade deficit. Instead well rely increasingly on foreign and often unfriendly suppliers.
Chu acknowledged the role cleaner-burning natural gas can play in electricity generation, but only as a transition to other fuels in coming years. And the administration continues to gobble up lands where it might be found and impose environmental regulations that curtail the use of new technologies such as fracking to get more oil and natural gas from Americas vast shale deposits.
Can we all agree now that this administration is purposely trying to destroy this nation?
The growth of government has been impelled by two main factors. One is the now-entrenched political philosophy of both parties that America is a problem to be fixed, and Americans are a people to be managed, which I identified as George W. Bush's principal shortcoming back in 2003.
The other factor is the rise of the entitlement mentality of American to match the growth of entitlement-disbursing governments. Quite simply, Americans have allowed welfare payments of various kinds, both individual and corporate welfare, to control a far greater share of the total economic activity of the country than is healthy for growth or freedom. I belabored this point many times before, and this post is long enough, so I'll provide a few links:
"The end of entitlements"
"How democracies perish"
I would love those on the left, especially the Religious Left, to acknowledge the veracity of this poster.
Won't happen.
Doesn't fit the meme.

I belong to the Party of NO.
Do I believe that government should insert itself into the private health care insurance industry?
Do I believe that government is capable of running any business profitably?
Do I believe that government is capable of creating jobs?
Not Just No but HELL NO!
Perfidy! Lies and scum and bad faith and treachery and deceit! The false, tricksy, faithless KNAVES! DEMOCRATS!
Oh, whatever. Like anybody is surprised at another broken promise from Democrats in Congress. Hell, no one is surprised at the kid glove treatment that CNN is putting on it either:
House Democrats appear to be softening their pledge to allow the public 72 hours to review the health care reform package online before a House vote. "We will certainly give as much notice as possible, but I'm not going to say that 72 hours is going to be the litmus test," said Majority Leader Steny Hoyer on Friday."I'm a little bit taken aback that now that 72-hour rule has been completely cast aside, since nobody in the House has seen what's in the reconciliation bill," said Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Virginia. Speaker Nancy Pelosi promised earlier this year Democrats would make the final health care bill public at least three days before voting.
Ramming it through. No time to waste. Gosh, what if people actually knew what Congress was doing?
Brownstein, who is white, said "white southerners in this country are going nuts" because of the popularity of black figures like President Obama and Oprah Winfrey. He said he raised the issue because "you have to know who your enemy is."
If Senator Reid, Speaker Pelosi, and President Obama get their way, soon our country will be changed forever. Using every partisan parliamentary trick in the book (including some they invented just last week), Washingtons Left intends to ram through their takeover of our health care system regardless of the consequences.
The latest twists and turns in the Obamacare drama seem almost surreal. One minute the Democrat leadership is trying to amend a bill before the president has even signed it into law, and the next minute theyre trying to draft a new rule that will allow the House to deem a bill passed without actually voting on it! Theyre determined to use the Senate reconciliation process as a parliamentary trick to bypass the regular voting procedure (and by the way, to add insult to injury, theyre now going to ram through federalization of Americas student loan industry with this same reconciliation vote). Is there any other wildly unpopular legislation theyd also like to sneak in? Perhaps the anti-energy-independence policy Cap and Tax (aka Cap and Trade) is next?
And make no mistake, the Obamacare bill is wildly unpopular. The Democrats own pollsters warn of an unmitigated disaster for them in November if they dont abandon their plan and start over with real incremental health care reform. Incredibly, at this point, they dont seem to care. Speaker Pelosi thinks Congress must pass the bill so that the American people can then find out whats in it.

Our BIG Tea Party:
March 14, 2010 at 8:01 am For the Eeyores, it is all about appearances rather than substance
Over the years Jeff @ Protein Wisdom has written numerous detailed essays on language, identity politics and how the Left uses both to frame the narrative. The problem with the Eeyores is that they accept the Lefts narrative that right-wingers are a bunch of racist, sexist, homophobes rather than fight against such totalitarian narrative:

He wants you to sit down and shut up now.
They are getting cocky, arent they? Not without a fight, Bobby Gibbs:
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said the healthcare bill will pass by next weekend.
Well have the votes when the House votes, I think, within the next week, Gibbs said on Fox News Sunday.
Gibbs added that those on next weeks Sunday talk shows will be talking about healthcare not as a presidential proposal but I think as the law of the land.
President Barack Obama will look to campaign on the new healthcare law in midterm elections, Gibbs said.
We believe healthcare reform is going to pass, and once it passes were happy to have the 2010 elections be about the achievement of healthcare reform, Gibbs said.
Via The Hill.
Get on message, Beltway GOP: Stop the Constitution butchers. Stop Pelosis Slaughter House.
Bold words from Baghdad Bobby Gibbs:
"We'll have the votes when the House votes, I think, within the next week," Gibbs said on "Fox News Sunday."Gibbs added that those on next week's Sunday talk shows "will be talking about healthcare not as a presidential proposal but I think as the law of the land."
President Barack Obama will look to campaign on the new healthcare law in midterm elections, Gibbs said.
"We believe healthcare reform is going to pass, and once it passes we're happy to have the 2010 elections be about the achievement of healthcare reform," Gibbs said.
I suppose there's no other spin he can put on it, since his masters demand that he stand in front of the cameras and smile every day. But Gibbsy is simply out of his mind if he thinks that passing the Democrats' healthcare bill is going to be good for his team in the 2010 elections.
This "projection" of the White House is so far from reality, it can only mean that they're still trying to pressure reluctant congressmen into voting for it. The thinking is that if they repeat and repeat that this will be good come November, maybe a foolish congresscritter or two will actually believe it.
I wouldn't get too worked up about his claim that healthcare reform will pass within the week either. First, he's just repeating the White House deadline in other language. Remember, first the deadline was March 18. Then, when that clearly wasn't happening, the President delayed his trip to Australia until March 21...seven days from today. Also known as a week.
Second, Gibbsy is credibility-challenged (and how!) as a general matter. But even within his statement this morning, he's not given us any reason to believe him. His delusional "this is good for us in November" statement has no connection to reality. Nor does his claim that the president will campaign on it during the midterms. Not with every Dem candidate fleeing from him after his disastrous performances in Virginia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.
So, why should we believe Gibbs' simultaneous claim that "this will pass within a week?"
Its an article called Wrong Bill at the Wrong Time by Shikha Dalmia, where the author refers to someone as a lying bitch.
Olympic Organizer, Edwards Political Director Behind Ill. Coffee Party Movement
A new study released today reveals that Tea Party activists are motivated by feelings of responsibility to future generations and belief in America's founding principles, but still struggle with questions of leadership and identity. The study conducted by Sam Adams Alliance, The Early Adopters: Reading the Tea Leaves, also reveals that Tea Party activists are a diverse group trying often for the first time to change the political landscape by holding elected officials more accountable. For the full report, including a video, go here
The Sam Adams report offers the first-ever insights into the Tea Party movement that include a survey sample made up entirely of recognized Tea Party activists.
"A lot of surveys have focused on the Tea Party movement, but they've been about what others think of them, and don't reveal the motives of actual Tea Partiers," said Sam Adams Alliance chairman Eric O'Keefe. "We decided to learn what the Tea Party leaders are up to the old fashioned way: We asked them."
The findings confirm that a large number of Tea Party activists are politically involved for the first time. 47 percent of activists surveyed said that they were "uninvolved" or "rarely involved" in politics before their participation in Tea Party groups.
Three political issues stood out as being the most important to Tea Party activists. When asked which issues were "very important" to them, 92 percent said "budget," 85 percent said "economy," and 80 percent said "defense." No respondents listed social issues as an "important direction" for the movement.
Other findings of the study include:
* 86 percent oppose the formation of a third-party.
* 36 percent support a 2012 Sarah Palin Presidential candidacy.
* 81 percent have a website for their organization.
* 90 percent cited "to stand up for my beliefs" when characterizing their initial reason for involvement.
* 62 percent identified as Republicans, 28 percent as Independents, 10 percent as "Tea Party"
Extensive interviews revealed that many are struggling with questions of leadership, purpose, and identity, but they are driven by an overwhelming, often personal, feeling that future generations' well-being weighs on their shoulders. Many of those interviewed also referenced a need for better branding of the movement so they are not seen as extremists, and cited new friendships as one of the most rewarding benefits of involvement.
The results of the study are based on in-depth "laddering" interviews to determine activists' core connections to the movement, and to understand what their hopes and fears are for the country and the Tea Parties themselves.
SARAH PALIN IS Obama By Proxy. I used to dismiss these contradictions as simply hypocrisy, but perhaps these people are angry at Palin because of her perceived similarities to Barack Obama, not in spite of them. They need someplace to ground the lightning of their frustration and disappointment, and theyre not allowed to be angry at Obama. . . . Sarah Palin is a convenient hate fetish for increasingly nervous and confused Left, because she embodies the qualities of the red-state America they loathe and serves as a voodoo doll for uncomfortable criticisms of Obama, which they project onto her.
UPDATE: Reader Steve Hendren writes: I thought the same thing about Tiger Woods during his recent spate of personal problems. Cant bring yourself to criticize The One? Have a go at Tiger, instead . Yeah. I think Tigers public persona did a lot to help Obama early on I heard plenty of explicit comparisons, in fact so the connections even more close.
The Sydney Morning Herald has a story on the essentially defunct US carbon trading market.
Wall Street was supposed to become the capital of a global carbon trading market worth a trillion dollars a year but now many who thought green trading desks would be the next big thing are fearing the pink slip.
US banks had looked forward to a huge cap-and-trade market a system where companies would buy and sell the right to emit gases blamed for warming the planet. Many hired carbon traders, picked up assets, and trained members of energy desks to deal in emissions markets.
But prospects for a broad US carbon market have dimmed. US Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican working on a compromise climate bill, declared economy-wide cap-and-trade dead this month.
The green jobs were supposed to be for the little guys on Wall street?
At least one bank with carbon trade assets has already been hit. EcoSecurities, a clean energy project developer and carbon trader, bought by JP Morgan Chase last year has closed its New York-based US office leading to a loss of up to 20 jobs.
20 jobs!!!11
Its like all-out war, Peter Fusaro, an expert at Global Change Associates in New York, said about the political and market odds stacked against creation of a big carbon market. Many in green groups, banks and the government had hoped the United States would anchor a global market worth up to $US2 trillion ($2.2 trillion) a year by 2020.
Thats really quite telling. The greenies were in bed with the guys with the green. And now this poor soul cant make a killing in a high-rolling Wall street job and save the planet at the same time.
Paths to that goal could be US mandates for solar and wind power, and incentives for nuclear energy and energy efficiency. If those are signed into law, future green jobs may hold more promise there than on carbon desks.
Hopefully Ill remain in the environment field, said one former carbon trader who did not wish to be identified. Perhaps something in energy efficiency. Thats going to keep growing.
Trading what? Blowhard futures?
To save their jobs, these traders must expand their coverage of environmental products and services beyond carbon credits, said Fusaro. Traders can dabble in markets generated by investments in energy efficiency and renewables and for emissions of smog components.
This is pernicious. Once they start trading NOx for caulk, all hells going to break loose, and building will become impossible for anyone who doesnt have a staff of specialists and traders. This isnt an accident. But heres the money quote:
Some carbon trading jobs may remain if US senators forming the compromise bill propose implementing cap-and-trade more narrowly, first on power plants, which emit about 40 percent of the countries emissions. Later heavy industry could be covered, but perhaps not transportation.
And that, right there, is why carbon trading wont reduce US oil imports. Theyre going to try to stick it to the coal industry. People see the price signs on the gas pumps, but they just pay their electric bills.
So heres an assignment particularly those of you in the Northeast and Great Lakes areas who have a lot of coal generated electricity. Next time you get your power bill, make note of the energy charge per kWH. There are probably a number of other charges as well, but there should be some number, between $.10 and $.40 for a kWH. Watch that number. If these guys get their way, its going up. A lot.
The strategy to keep lean means young graduates who had wanted to combine an interest in environment with making money may have to adjust.
I get young people coming to me saying they are looking into oil and gas trading. Carbon jobs just arent out there, said Global Changes Fusaro.
If you can figure out how to trade whining, maybe you can make a killing.
Future Fuels: Our secretary of energy pushes bio-refineries and windmills to oil executives at an energy conference as the administration announces a three-year offshore drilling ban. This is a policy for economic suicide. (snip) A study by Science Applications International Corp. at the request of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, the Gas Technology Institute and others shows that as a result of this administration's energy policy, the U.S. economy will suffer $2.3 trillion in lost opportunity costs over the next two decades, monies that would go a long way to reining in runaway deficits and creating economic growth. According to Chu, we'll just have to grin and bear it.

A Washington Post article about banning laptops in the classroom claims that professors have found themselves losing to the cone of distraction generated by these devices. Its ironic because the universities themselves exerted strenuous efforts to ensure that every student had a laptop only to find them a nuisance. They mandated them only to ban them.
A generation ago, academia embraced the laptop as the most welcome classroom innovation since the ballpoint pen. But during the past decade, it has evolved into a powerful distraction. Wireless Internet connections tempt students away from note-typing to e-mail, blogs, YouTube videos, sports scores, even online gaming all the diversions of a home computer beamed into the classroom to compete with the professor for the students attention.
But although the Washington Post has cast the problem in terms of distraction these devices pose, the underlying difficulty may be more basic. The computer has become cybernetically part of many people. For many people, you no longer means just you. It means you and your computer. And how can a person attend class with an essential part of himself removed?

speaking of bicameralism, how many here are interested in the Slaughter Solution being thrown around the room now? This is in regards to the HC bill and off topic but ive noticed a passion for revolution on this site over the years.
I am watching. If they in fact take the action of passing laws without voting on them, the social and political contract is irretrievably broken. A regime that is subject to our Constitution that takes this step has become illegitimate, as are its further actions.
I assume that I am not the only one watching carefully. Further this deponent sayeth not for the moment, but I would also be extremely interested in what our host would have to say since he has seen the elephant firsthand.
