After 2 centuries of shrinking, Alaska glaciers got thicker this year

Two hundred years of glacial shrinkage in Alaska, and then came the winter and summer of 2007-2008. Unusually large amounts of winter snow were followed by unusually chill temperatures in June, July and August.

For several years there has been speculation that as sea temps warm slightly the evaporation rate will increase and deposit more snow at slightly higher altitudes.

And to think. The “ One “ was only elected 3 Days ago. That takes care of Global Warming. Whats that ? The Oceans have dropped a foot due to new ice. Wow ! We can only imagine 8 years of this can’t we ?

I can atest to it being colder this summer and our bear guide in Icy Straits, said the snow was on the mountains earlier than in many years. Best of Alaska 0813

I live in Wasilla and I can attest to the unusually cold weather this year. We didn’t have a summer and October was like February. Where is that global warming when you really need it? I have had snow on the ground for a month. I remember a few years ago when we didn’t get snow until December.
