Because the "Republican" brand has been forever tainted and vilified by the "Change" agents. This election was a repudiation of the GOP on national, state and local levels.
Obviously the brilliance of our GOP masters blinded them to the signals sent out in 2006. So, they just kept on doing the same old stuff, while allowing the Dems to completely outmaneuver them at every turn.
A Congress with a 9% approval rating got re-elected and the Dems expanded their gains!!!!!!!
We need to start over so we don't have any holdovers dragging us down.
The dumbed down electorate wants something new. So let's give them old truths packaged in a new way.
You live in NJ, a state where the GOP barely qualifies to stay on the ballot under the election law (I think that you need to get more than 30% of the statewide vote for members of the Assembly to be a fully recognized party). So how do you propose to get a new party on the ballot without continual expensive and exhausting petition campaigns?
