Fascism: A form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation or victimhood and by compensatory cults of unity, energy and purity, in which a mass-based party of committed nationalist militants, working in uneasy but effective collaboration with traditional elites, abandons democratic liberties and pursues with redemptive violence and without ethical or legal restraints goals of internal cleansing and external expansion. The blunt core of Jonah Goldberg’s definition of fascism is also instructive.
Fascism is the religion of the state. Not a religion chosen by the state, mind you, but the religion which worships the state.
Or as Hitler once put it, the state is the organism, each individual is but a cell. Cells die and are replaced all the time: It is the state which must, and does, live on.
Welcome to Obama’s Neue Volksgemeinschaft.
