In 1948, Lydon B. Johnson did the same in Texas - finding “lost” ballots for the Senate race. He was then called Lying Johnson.

Thios was a common practice in Texas, republican and democrat. John Connely was his campaign manager and he spelled out the details in several interviews. Johnson had lost before when the other guy, “found” enough votes to win.

Actually, regarding Lyndon Johnson’s “win,” I recall there being questions about dead people voting; and there was no recount because the ballots were burned in a warehouse fire. After that, he was called “Lucky Lyndon.”

The Lyndon Johnson 1948 “win” story is found at

http://74.125.95.104/search?q=cache:Ju-7d9xtuPcJ:www.texasmonthly.com/cms/story.php%3Fissue%3D1998-11-01%26file%3Dreporter.php%26pageNum%3D1%26itemTitle%3D+Lyndon+burned+%221948+election%22&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=6&gl=us

From that source, we have ...

“She may never get her wish; according to one longtime observer of Alice politics, the search for Box 13 is certain to be fruitless. “The ballots were burned that night in the Ranch Motel, and the tally sheet was taken across the border by some of George Parr’s men,” the source claims. “Box 13 was probably burned along with everything else.” And how did the source come by this bit of information? “You can hear it from the horse’s mouth.”

no. it was Landslide Lyndon.

It is pretty bad when you have to steal an election in your own state to become a US Senator. And then to top that off !.. kill a President in your own state in order to become President.

Not at all, he was “Landslide Lyndon”, and the Texans adored him. They gave him about 65 percent of the vote in 1964.
