Living up to your screen name, I see.
It did NO harm,
Yeah, it really built up her positives with those who weren't already in love with her, didn't it? (Your evidence, being...?)
and possibly a bit of good. It showed the she had a sense of humor and could laugh at herself.
And that's something she had to work on, right? To the rest of the country, she was this dour intellectual, and she needed to be lightened up.
It was done in the same vein as when Clinton went on some late night show (Letterman???) and played his saxophone. Was HE not a serious candidate???
If this is the level our people are going to keep playing, we're already screwed for 2012.
If you really believe the media lovefest for Clinton is IN ANY WAY comparable to the hate they poured on Palin, and that these two appearances were the exact same in their impact, you're hopeless.
Yup. I call'em as I see'em.
"Yeah, it really built up her positives with those who weren't already in love with her, didn't it? (Your evidence, being...?"
Simply put, even the media anti-Palin barage moderated a bit afterward. Though only temporarily. Add to that the huge crowds she generated everywhere she went, in case after case pulling in people who had never gone to a candidate rally in their lives (evidence from all over the blog-net)(.
"And that's something she had to work on, right? To the rest of the country, she was this dour intellectual, and she needed to be lightened up."
Given the incessant media mis-representation, yes, and yes. And it was PRECISELY the kind of "take it straight to them, but in a humorous fashion" tactic that Reagan was so good at. Remember "there you go again"???
"If this is the level our people are going to keep playing, we're already screwed for 2012."
If we play by YOUR playbook, we certainly are. If you don't see the need for the candidates to come across as real people, then you're an idiot.
"If you really believe the media lovefest for Clinton is IN ANY WAY comparable to the hate they poured on Palin, and that these two appearances were the exact same in their impact, you're hopeless."
Which statement proves you've missed my whole point. Clinton's appearance on Letterman showed his humanity and sense of humor to the independent voters, just as Sarah's did. The "hopeless" party here is you.
