I strongly disagree. If it was predestined for Obama to win, then why did McCain-Palin have a good lead in the polls right up to the financial crash?

What polls were you looking at? They got a bit of a post-convention bump, before which McCain was trailing, and after the crash they never got any momentum going.

We'll never know what would have happened without the crisis, so it's impossible to say.

All I know is McCain-Palin were ahead in the polls before the crash. Right after the crash they were behind. Everything I read and heard in the media was that the crash was caused by "greedy bankers" (and we all know who they are) i.e. evil, nasty Republicans. McCain's response to the Obama campaign and the media lies was to agree with the greedy banker trope. It was only later on in the campaign did he mention the FMs and then very ineffectually.

He should have immediately gone on tv and told the American public who was at fault for the crisis instead of agreeing with Obama as to the cause. I'll bet millions of voters still don't know the facts about the role of the FMs in the crash and Dem complicity. The crash and the failure of McCain to explain the reasons for it more than anything else to my mind cost him the election.

I did notice that her unfavoribles went up about 5 points after the SNL appearance.

I kind of wonder if it played right into peoples misconceptions about her.

It was her version of the “celebrity ad” McCain aired against Obama.
