Reagan was old enough to have experienced a lot more history than Palin, and his several years of military service during WWII, although entirely in the US due to his poor eyesight, included extensive work in production of army training films, which certainly wouldnt have been focusing on domestic activities during wartime. In Bushs case, he had a front row seat during his fathers Presidency, and extraordinary access to his fathers experience and hindsight re the first Iraq war. He also certainly had plenty of experience in social situations with foreign dignitaries.
Age doesn't mean experience in any venue of life if you are not in the arena --making Army training film is NOT foreign POLICY experience --Bush's experience while his father was president consisted of having a good time in college And you didn't answer my statement about the muslim terrorist threat or looking in Putin's eyes
Bush relied on Cheney and Rice not his own experience and both were caught off guard by the muslim terror threat

Condoleezza Rice offering a less-than-hearty endorsement is "ghastly behavior"?
Get a grip.
Must everyone march in lockstep and only utter words in praise, else be relegated to an enemies list? What happened to the party of freedom? Can we no longer have differing opinions on things? Sheesh!

Bush and even Chaney were caught completely off guard by the muslim threat to this country--even after the World Trade Tower bombing under Clinton --the USS Cole--Kabul Towers etc etc It was hardly even mentioned in the campaign in 2000 if at all
Was the muslim threat to this country not mentioned because they didn't consider it a threat or because it would have been spun as 'racist'?

RR also gave numerous speeches, and studied extensively, foreign policy. He was planning for something for many years. Palin has plenty of time to decide what to do to ensure her future within the party. She is a natural, just needs some work on foreign policy.

Would it be possible for someone to compile all these names from the various threads in one location? I think that would be very useful.

Palin did a good job, considering the pressure she was under.
The Republicans had better learn to work with her from this year forward. She's not going away. She's not going to stay in Alaska, serve her state and then fade away.
The Republicans disregard her at their own peril.

Unfortunately, I think Palin’s political career potential may have been smashed on the rocks by this very ill-advised decision (not hers, really) to shove her into an extremely high profile role which she was not even remotely prepared for. The giddy adulation that a certain segment of the conservative population continues to pour on her is hardly a firm foundation for a climb up the political ladder. It also seems to have to gone to Palin’s head a bid, causing her to behave in ways that have made top Republican movers and shakers want to put her out with the trash. In the final analysis, just like Alan Keyes, she distracted a fawning subset of conservatives from the task at hand, enabling Obama to cruise to an easy victory.

I think that "certain segment" is bigger than the leaders like to admit and would rather the "silent majority" go back to being silent.

"Schmidt was importuned by several of the Republican aspirants for president earlier this year. Mitt Romney sent him an antique chair to symbolize a seat at the table."Would a FR RomneyBOT share with FReeRepublic a picture of that chair your Master sent his minion?
Oooh, you've got Romney now. He sent Schmidt a chair! That proves that it is Romney behind these Palin attacks. What does it matter that Schmidt was actually in the employ of McCain? Romney tried to hire Schmidt a year ago, you see, so Schmidt has been a secret Romney minion.
From your link, it looks like Romney is one of the few that Schmidt is not associated with, but it was Romney that sent him the chair!
Congrats, among the Romney-haters at FR, you are bidding for the tin foil crown.

nonsense! Her future is just beginning. Nothing has been ruined. Remember they called RR and B actor and a dunce. Didn't stop him, didn't stop the base from loving him, and he was a great president.
Personally, I think it's way too soon to be talking of this. Sarah needs to rest up and decide if she wants to take this one.
To: calcowgirl
I compiled the list based primarily on other FR threads and comments. I still have not heard who the real anonymous sources are....I know it is not Condi, but not getting behind the selected candidates is not a good thing. Heck, the republican leadership could learn a thing or two from the Dem's...even Bill and Hillary swallowed their pride and tried at least to put on a good face for BO.
The republicans just kept sniping away that it was not their favorite choice etc. etc. etc.

You ARE the graphic guy, but this little chair graphic for the minion might be your best ever. Very funny.
To: mnehrling
I think Condi may be overkill.. a less than hearty endorsement was still an endorsement and nothing like the attacks by the others..
I agee. Condi is still an asset and a loyal Cold Warrior and Reaganite.

Maybe, but others have reached and missed, and then later come back. Obama himself ran against that Ex-Black Panther Bobby Whats-His-Name and lost, only to later win.
