News has been circulating around GOP insiders for weeks that McCain campaign honchos Rick Davis and Steve Schmidt were planning to blame Sarah Palin for McCains loss. This was expected to be an effort to punt the blame for their own failures to the side of the ticket that was most popular with the base, attracted the largest rally crowds, and scared the living bejeepers out of the opposing party.

It’s called good guy, bad guy routine. Of course McCain “defended” Palin because he was really defending himself. He chose her.
However, McCain’s slimy staff have the bad guy role in bashing her.
Don’t you get it!
Are you suggesting that David Frum is a democrat operative? He named McCain staffer Nicole Wallace as one of the McCain insiders behind this destroy-Palin campaign.

After the Republican party jammed McCain down our throats, I didn’t send them a dime. I campaigned against Obama among friends and people I spoke with, and voted for McCain, but promised myself that I would only contribute money if he picked the most qualified individual for his VP. Instead, he pandered to a particular demographic, hoping to steal away some former Hillary supporters.
My support for Romney was no secret here eight months ago. I sent his campaign money, and would have sent more to McCain if he picked Romney as his running mate.
When the financial meltdown occurred, it took the wind out of McCain’s sails. Ironically, such an event would have actually been a positive with Romney on the ticket. Economic issues was Romney’s strongest selling point.
If only they had worked this hard to place the blame for the mortgage crises on Congressional Democrats who pushed for risky mortgage and quashed efforts at reform, they could be engaged in petty squably to take credit for President-elect McCain, rather than squabbling to pin the blame for Senator McCain’s defeat.
Man, figuratively speaking, I wish I had rifle to put these two out of their misery.
They apparently didn’t realize the light at the end of the tunnel was freight train coming their way.
Ok, then why has McCain not come out and defended Palin??? He defended barry within 15 minutes of a campaign aid using his middle name hussein. No, Frum confirmed wallace as the main culprit...and you have noticed that no one from the mcanasty campaign has refuted any of this.

But Frum, too, is simply echoing the rumor. He has no first hand knowledge.
You're being duped by the Dems!
Amen!

We must NEVER forget these two. Not a year from now, not ten years from now.
And conservatives, including talk-show hosts, have to get over their reluctance to attach names to these quotes and incidents.
Be careful with your assumption! I saw from the other thread that Randy Scheunemann was defending Sarah Palin.
And let’s not forget how McCain let himself get sucker-punched by an amateur who “promised” to forgo the campaign donation process in favor of public financing.
Sarah needs to fight back against this. Put out a professional statement, say it one time, and walk away from all the McCain SOBs.
Yes, he believes someone (campaign staffers) is SPREADING rumors, but not the rumors themselves. That is where the confusion lies. Before, it looked like someone was saying Rush actually believed the rumors themselves.
There is a perfectly legitimate theory of handling this crap which says, “Don't dignify it.”
Why is everybody so quickly and willingly falling for this Alinsky trick?
McCain could have put this all to bed with a quick phone call to cameron... he didn’t and your theory does not hold water.
LLS
Does it have to be the compliance fund? Will they refund regular contibutions made back on the day Palin was announced?
Hey, everybody’s a new FReeper at some point - it’s inevitable.
Believe what you want, but an Obama supportin’ Brown Shirt I am not. I’ve been a “Reagan Conservative” since the first time I was able to vote, in 1984.

My dream ticket for 2012 is Palin/Jindall.
Talk about scaring the holy crap out of the left. Two very powerful Conservatives with a message a deflated America will cling to....an unbeatable combination.
As long as he reaches across the aisle, he’s happy. He doesn’t care about his own party or voters except when it’s election time.
But I don’t think he can control Davis, Schmidt, Wallace, etc..
What I would have preferred that McCain had done in his concession speech would have been to talk up Palin instead of, or at least before, he started his slobbering over Obama. By doing so, he would have elevated her for the benefit of the party and as a formal nod of thanks to the base who ultimately showed up and performed for him.
Buncha bastards.
I just requested my money back, too.
Frankly, I’d rather the money went to Sarah for 2012.
