Regular Folks United ^ | November 6, 2008 | Kerri Houston Toloczko

News has been circulating around GOP insiders for weeks that McCain campaign honchos Rick Davis and Steve Schmidt were planning to blame Sarah Palin for McCain’s loss. This was expected to be an effort to punt the blame for their own failures to the side of the ticket that was most popular with the base, attracted the largest rally crowds, and scared the living bejeepers out of the opposing party.

“They” (all those who don't want Palin for any future office) are laying the ground to PERMANTLY label her as DUMB just like they did with Quail, Reagan and Bush.

If we don't stop it now the general public will believe because the talking heads, even on the right, will continue to paint her as a dunce.

She was on the honor society, is a voracious reader.

We need to get the word out AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. We also need to get out her accomplishments(with details) and duties (with details.

This is a load of crap. McCain defended Palin as recently as the day before the election...

But has he defended her since?

Palin is responsible for at least 40% of the vote mcjerkface got. NO Republican could have won this year... and mac would have gone down by 25% more if not for Palin.

They better not even think of throwing Sarah Palin under the bus! Without her, John McShame would have made an even bigger fool of himself than he did.

Sarah came off (to me, anyway) as a bit inexperienced this time around, but she has all the potential to become a GOP superstar by 2012 if she stays active in politics and takes the lead in realigning the GOP with Reagan conservatism. I can see her leading the charge to throw out the RINOs and country club Republicans.

. . . how McCain got the nomination in the first place

A process of elimination. From the beginning, only Thompson had the right combination of presence, conservatism, and electability. But he never seemed to want it.

Thompson was my number one choice. Could you imgaine a Thompson/Palin campaign this past year. It would have been vastly different.

Thompson is a great guy to have in your corner, but you’re right. His drive was never there.

As an Alaskan I am appalled...I just requested my refund!

I am happy for Alaskans that you have your governor back, and for Todd and the children, that Sarah is back in Alaska. Life is DC would have been a horrible experience for them, given today’s media climate.

I only donated after she was chosen, too.

why he would approve those skits, which poked fun at Palin

I had the same reaction. That whole thing was at Sarah's expense. I couldn't believe he would countenance that. The very idea of teaming with Fey in Sarah's absence! Low.

the Idiot that counseled McCain not to get on the side of the PEOPLE when it came to bailing out Wall St.

Pretty sure that the idiot you are referring to is McCain.

Same here. I signed up with Fred when he first made the announcement, but he never seemed to get off the ground. I think he didn’t want his family under the spotlight, and I can’t really blame him.

Thompson/Palin would have been great, though.

Rush damn well did believe them and talked about it for over 35 minutes. He said “think of who these rumors help". He knows who it helps and he called out Elitist, northeast country club republicans working for McCain for starting these rumors. I listened to the entire 3 hours.
