A lot of stupid, white, babyboomer ex-hippies.

A lot of moron suburbanites who don't think. There will be a revival of the old idea that the sick cultures can be helped by mandating federal housing to be built in suburban school districts. The local pols and corrupt developers will be more than happy to take advantage of a once in a lifetime get rich quick opportunity. I hope they enjoy those weekend celebrations fed by the wonderful service of regional transportation. Also since there will no longer be "suspicious" people in neighborhoods during the day, their houses will become gold mines. I think it's pure comedy.

Actually, it's probably mostly a sign of how rich we are, and how easy our lives are. One might even suggest that it's a sign of decadence.

To introduce the point, the cover of a recent Economist had a picture of Obama, with the headline "It's Time." Time for what? Why, a black guy to be president, of course. This is from a supposedly responsible publication!

Folks have gotten very used to the idea that they'll be comfortable and safe regardless of who's in the White House. The idea is that, because there are no apparent consequences, one can instead vote on the basis of less important factors -- such as, proving we're not racist. Obama is superficially attractive, he has a nice voice tat tells us things that make us feel good, and he's black -- what more do we need to know?
