Israel 'will attack Iran' before new US president sworn in, John Bolton predicts
John Bolton, the former American ambassador to the United Nations, has predicted that Israel could attack Iran after the November presidential election but before George W Bush's successor is sworn in.

Israel, however, still had a determination to prevent a nuclear Iran, he argued. The "optimal window" for strikes would be between the November 4 election and the inauguration on January 20, 2009.

William Kristol, a prominent neo-conservative, told Fox News on Sunday that an Obama victory could prompt Mr Bush to launch attacks against Iran. "If the president thought John McCain was going to be the next president, he would think it more appropriate to let the next president make that decision than do it on his way out," he said.

The unintended consequence of the anti-war code pink vote.
Yes.
There is no government. There is an election on. I’m not sure Olmert, who’s minding the store, has the legal right to initiate a war. I suppose if intelligence produced hard and fast evidence that it’s now or never, they could act, but Iran is not there yet. It’s not like 1981 when Begin bombed the nuclear plant in Iraq during an election when he was seeking re-election. For this to happen the three leaders Livni, Netanyahu, and Barak would have to interrupt their royal rumble to secretly agree on how to manage this. It doesn’t sound plausible.
“It’s in the world’s interest to do this.
Nuclear bombs in the hands of those mad mulluhs of Iran? I couldn’t think of a more frightening thought.”
Oh I agree, Iran can’t be allowed to go nuclear, but I would much rather have a Bush or McCain as President when Israel does this. Obama will not handle this well, most likely chastizing Israel or allowing Israel’s neighbors (including Iran) to wage an all-out war. In that sense, the mad mullah’s will see with an Obama Presidency, they can do whatever they want in trying to accomplish their goal of wiping Israel off the map.
If this is going to happen, I hope Israel does it quickly, so we at least have Bush to handle the immediate aftermath.
The British press is the biggest bunch of Bull. I think the New Year predictions are more accurate.
It would be best for Israel to attack sooner, because Obama would get an education from the daily briefings from the Bush team, but not be able to screw things up yet. It would also mean that he would have to assemble his defense team before a lot of other stuff.
Hopefully also, Iran would try an attack on our prepared forces in the region. They, and Israel, are under a layered anti-missile screen provided by W. Bush. This might help persuade Obama that missile defenses are just a waste of money.
This would mean that any notions about direct talks with Iran would be over, as well as the possibility they could razzle dazzle the naif.
It would also mean that W. Bush could whole hog retaliate and blow the snot out of Iran, ending things up before Inauguration Day. This would put Obama in the same position as Bill Clinton, with no-fly zones in Iraq.
It would also mean that any statements of approval of anything by Obama, and he would be an enemy of Iran, from their point of view, thereafter.
“Mr Bush to launch attacks against Iran.” President Bush won’t launch dick...the Israelis will take care of their business (I hope.)
My guess is late Dec. early January.
I dont think Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran makes any difference at this point... Their Nukes are protected underground & it will not eliminate any or all of them with any certainty. I believe the opposite will happen, Iran & Co. will once and for all Nuke bomb the zionists out of existance, all the while Obama does nothing. The Dems see Israel as the problem in the Middle east, as do the Muslims...
You and I agree fully
When W had a briefing for both candidates sometime back this is where the gaffe factory Biden comes in, can’t keep his stupid mouth shut.
In a way, it’s a good thing, it shows the American people where the leak is.
Unfortunately, even when it happens, not if, but when, their sheeple still won’t be able to connect these dots though.
Bill Kristol is a fool, Bush has NOTHING to do with it. Israel will strike with or without our help, regardless of the elections.
However I now disagree with Biden, I think it’ll occur on W’s watch, just before he leaves office, late Dec. or early January, now that Israel knows where it stands with bambi and mouth.
The loon ahmajenidad is all but promising to wipe Israel off the map and is busily building the weaponry to do it.
bambi will fumble and side with Iran and Biden knows it.
If we want to take them out, we can!
I bet Obama comes to the conclusion that we (the US) needs to remain in Iraq, if only to keep Israel & Iran apart. Right now the Iraqi “air force” couldn’t prevent a sparrow from flying across their airspace.
I respect the Israeli Airforce as much any, but the difficulties in mounting a distant, sustained air campaign (that’s what it will take) are beyond their capabilities unless they get assistance. Emergency bases in Iraq, US air tanker support, BAR CAPS (fighter cover) to protect their returning strikes, etc.
So unless Bush gives the “Green Light” to the Israelis I don’t think that you’ll get anything more that a single, ineffective raid.
I hope Bolton is right. Hussein will do 0 for Israel. It’s now or never. All those Arabs didn’t give Hussein all that $ to defend Israel.
I hope they do attack Iran, show the world they have a set of, well, you know......
I completely agree with that and hope they do it before the OBAMANATION is sworn in.
Unfortunately, I think it will lead to the fulfillment of Isaiah 17 (the destruction of Damascus) not long afterward. And the end will come like a flood but GOD will preserve Israel.
Obama just screwed Israel as the POTUS-Elect....The only chance was a McCain/Palin victory for an Israel preventive attack on Iran....Obama would make the “payback” too costly to just do it and attack Iran and end the nuke threat or put the program back to the stone age...
The Israelis have a good spy agency and special ops force. Why can’t they eliminate the nuclear scientists?
