This is the core of contemporary liberalism. It is the primary tool in the tyrant's toolbox in a democratic society.
It is likewise at the root of many emotional illnesses.
And finally, it is also, when broadened to include all self-absorbtion, the primary tool of Satan, the essence of sin, and the antitheses of Godliness.

I agree with all you said, especially with the sin of self-absorption, idolizing of the self
If you read former NY state public school teacher of the year John Taylor Gatto’s books (Dumbing us down, The Underground history of American Education, etc.) he talks about how the public schools whole philosophy was created and geared toward raising up easily moldable, dependant, insecure people. Originally it was to form children into willing sheeple to work compliantly in factories and be “hooked” on consumer goods, feeling this inner fear of being different or not owning the latest pop culture consumer goods (which has become idolatry in my mind), so that industries would have a large compliant clientele of workers and consumers. All those same attitudes of fear and dependency are perfectly in line with those needed for socialism. I fear we'll never get our country back as long as there is a public school system brainwashing them. I've thought and thought over the last days over what can be done about public school. Not everyone can homeschool or can afford private school, but until kids are set free from this indoctrination, we'll see them continue voting themselves into slavery.
Excellent post!
