**Top Thirty Errors That Doomed McCain**
Pajamas Media ^ | November 4, 2008 | Jennifer Rubin

The results are in and the recriminations have begun. Sure, it might not have made any difference, but the number of sins of omission and commission by the McCain campaign is breathtaking. Let’s get a head start on the finger-pointing and give you the top thirty mistakes John McCain and his team made:

Not pursuing the Reverend Wright connection, as an issue of judgment and then credibility. Even Jerry Nadler knew it was a sign that Barack Obama lacked political courage, i.e., character.

Waiting until September to raise Barack Obama’s other troubling connections (e.g., Bill Ayers, Rashid Khalidi).

Failing to devise a comprehensive economic message until the final weeks of the campaign.

Failure to explain the Democrats’ role in the financial meltdown.

Not enough talk about “friends of Angelo” and Democratic corruption.

Wasting his convention speech on “bipartisanship” and biography instead of pounding home a core economic message.

Frittering away time and money in Iowa.

Losing time in the spring when McCain had sewn up the nomination but Obama had not. An ideal time to begin defining the contrast in messages.

Appallingly deficient “oppo” research and timing. Why didn’t the “bankrupt the coal industry” tape come out before the final weekend?

Going to war with the MSM without an effective plan to use alternate media to get their message out.

Cutting off McCain’s daily access to the traveling press corps.

The frenetic response to the financial meltdown. (Fire Chris Cox! Cancel the debate — no, hold the debate!) All that was missing was juggling knives on a tightrope above a fire pit.

That one floored me too, I figured then it was all I we but the crying.

I changed my tag line about that time.

Unlike many on this forum, I lay this at the foot of GW and his Pappy.

Karl Rove. The one many called “The Magnificant Bastard” to me
Is merely a Bastard to me who gave USA democratic house and senate.

I may not live to see the total collapse of the greatest nation in history,
But I surely will not live to see it as a strong shining city on a hill again

Remember, Obama disabled the AVS on his credit card donation apparatus so that anyone could take a CC and donate under a phony name.

It allowed him to play an elaborate game with shell donors and effectively create new "donors" at will. His campaign was nothing but one giant money laundering scheme for illegal/foreign contributors.

I agree: New Hampshire, then South Carolina.

With the NH primary, McCain was IMMEDIATELY crowned “front-runner” by the MSM.

And that took South Carolina out before anybody else decided.

The inescapable error, JSM was a lousy candidate from day 1.

The man who sponsored McCain-Feingold was beaten bloody by an opposing candidate with unlimited funds.

The man who sponsored McCain-Kennedy eventually got the support of conservatives he infuriated, but lost the support of the Hispanics he was pandering to.

The man who formed the Gang of 14, so as to retain the right of minority Democrats to filibuster, will be among the minority that is denied the right of filibuster by majority Democrats.

It was not until McCain had locked up the nomination that he received a majority of Republican votes in any primary.

McCain was always an inferior candidate. Even the selection of Palin did not change that basic fact. The election was lost the moment McCain was nominated.

Rove was always a mixed bag.

Elian Gonzales tipped Florida and the electoral map in favor of Bush in 2000.

The Swiftboat Vets took care of Kerry in 2004.

Where were the new "Swiftboat Vets" for this election cycle...??

Only 30?

Obama showed McCain what you do when you WANT to win. he lied, cheated and even stole to get what he wants while McCain whined that the media who supported him, turned when he needed them most. McCain learned what the press calls the guy who ran an “honorable” campaign; The loser.

McCain was never really the candidate of choice for most of us, we opposed the other guy more than we supported him.
This is what happens when you don't give people something to vote for.

What I find most ironic about this campaign is that McCain lost to a guy that bypassed his “bipartisan” attempts to reform campaigns. The term “hoisted on his own petard” comes to mind.

That said, the real comeback starts today and hopefully we will not allow democrats to pick our candidates next time.

Exactly - I agree. Money from anyone, anywhere, no questions asked. Use any card, even if it’s not your own.
MONEY won this.

Gee, I guess this may be not legal here to change the topic, but anyone seen the MARKETS down over 100 this AM!
HA. Up yesterday possibly on the hope of a McCain win, or am I just being stupid linking the two??
Down today pretty big....

There was nothing right about this big-government political hack.

It's good to see the long knives coming out for Senator Amnesty here on FR.

I just can't figure that out.

Until you realise how controlled the entire process is by the PTB, you never will.

McCain, quite simply, is not (and never has been) a real conservative.

McCain lost the election and the RNC is responsible for not supporting him.

McCain-Feingold was not a bright idea, either.

McCain can go back to his Senate seat and be the “great bi-partisan” if he wants.

WE need to be sure that Traditionalists, Conservatives and Constitutionalists are supported in both the Republican and Democrat Parties.

This from a BlueDog Democrat.
