For over a generation our schools have brain washed our kids to be ashamed of our country’s heritage and to feel guilty for existing as a nation. Obama was a natural for the younger generation to glom on to.

Now what does the GOP need to do regain its popularity? First off we don’t appeal at all to the young voters. The college Republicans at UTA disbanded last year due to lack of participation. When you go to GOP meetings, the people are all over 50.

My daughter who goes to public schools has become conservative in her thinking simply because I explain things to her in a logical fashion that makes sense to her. The GOP never made the sale because they did not explain what was happening in clear language that people understood.

For instance, McCain never called Obama on his tax plan as a rebate to people rather than a rate reduction. He never related to young people as to what a growing economy could mean to them.

Oh well, we lost and it is time to get our act together and stick together. This is a new day and we need to spend our time educating people on economics. For instance, Joe the Plumber made more sense than McCain.

1. I know it’s hard work; but every conservative should be homeschooling their children. Public schools and most private schools are the heart of the problem. My wife and I both work full time jobs and manage to do it.

2. We need to start building affordable colleges that are explicitly and proudly conservative.

3. Until the current whoopee burns out, we will appeal to noone. The important thing is to constantly emphasize that Obama and his buds got us into this credit crisis. What are they going to do to get us out. Assignment of blame for the coming hard times will be the second most important thing we accomplish. It has to be squarely pinned where it belongs. America is now Obama’s to break and break it he will. But socialists can never believe that they broke something. It is always someone elses fault. The public has to understand that what is coming is Obama’s and Nancy’s fault.

That’s going to be a long education process. But we need to keep saying it OVER AND OVER for years if necessary. Obama’s accepting funds from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Obama’s refusal over and over to regulate them. Obama’s embrace of Franklin Raines. If you say it enough, it gets thru the noise. Heck, the left did it to Bush with lies. We ought to be able to do it to Obama with the truth.

We have to be saying over and over. The American people have decided to try socialism to solve our problems. We respect but disagree with that decision. This will not work. It will not solve our problems. Big government created the problems. It cannot solve them. That will be come clear and when it does, we are ready to fix things.

Keep predicting problems. Keep pointing out that Obama has complete control of our nation. Failure to make things better is squarely on his shoulders.

3a. Conservatives have to firmly break with RINO republicans. Now’s the time to do it. R’s have no say in the governing of the Republic. So it’s no problem if we have less. We have to convert people to small gvt conservatism, not to Republicanism. The Republican brand name is broken. George Bush and our majority R congress broke it. Maybe it’s time to discard it.

4. We need to start being conservatives again. Small government conseratives. When Obama breaks things, we have to be waiting with the simple argument: “There they go again. Government is not the solution. It is the problem.”

5. Sarah Palin needs to start a four year campaign to increase her stature and profile. Lots of speaking engagements. Lots of contact with the public. A lot like Reagan did between the governorship and the presidency.

Just some thoughts. Short and long term.
