Great example . . .
However, one can ask God . . .
is this person remotely a candidate for Salvation, or not.
Has he already crossed over the line of no return, or not?
count me in....
Thank you Blogger. I join you in prayer and thank our Lord for your gift with words.
Please keep me on your ping list.
Would you have asked the same of Saul? or Lydia? or Mary Magdalene? Catch my drift?
I will fly the flag, and I pray for my Country, Constitution and our freedom/liberty.
True, and the emperors during the time of Jesus and the later Christian saints were far worse than Obama...witness Nero, Caligula, etc.
I guess it was God’s will, or did He just turn His back and let us decide in our wickedness who we wanted?
I know I prayed and fasted...to no avail.
Ed
That’s a really good point...it’s far worse for Christians in Red China than it is for us, and you say they obey and pray for their leaders?
Ed
Thanks, Cvengr...those are definitely words of wisdom.
Ed
YES. They do.
Up to a point.
They don’t disobey Scripture to obey the leaders.
Only God knows his heart. It is His will that all be saved and so we pray and believe. That’s our part. The rest is His. That’s the simple faith and obedience to which we are called.
As a christian, I fervently believe that we chose a King instead of an Esther and for that God has already judged America and given us the King. He will bring down a judgement on America in ways we cannot imagine; financially, physically (storms, earthquakes, fire, etc.) and it will not be pretty. We need to press into God in these times. God help us all.
AMEN, Quix.
Please add me to this prayer list.
I fasted and prayed, too. Much more than I even planned to.
Others . . . did not.
Our efforts are not wasted.
God will sometimes tell some of His servants . . . the eternal facts about another’s heart.
I believe DarthVader’s sense of Obamao’s heart is accurate.
Great points.
But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD. And the LORD told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will do.” 1 Samuel 8:6-9
The LORD answered, “Listen to them and give them a king.” 1 Samuel 8:21
The Day After

Pray for Our President and Our Nation
Whether you voted for Barack Obama or John McCain, whether youre recovering from your all-night celebration or drying the tears from your pillow, todays a good day to remember the words of the apostle Paul: I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness (1 Timothy 2:1-3).
And the new President will surely need our prayers because he and his administration face huge, serious challenges to the health of our nation and to peace in the worldchallenges that, in my opinion, neither he nor any government on earth will have the power to overcome without divine aid.
How has America come to this point? Why is our economy on the brink of disaster? Why is our culture so utterly depraved?
I can only think of what Alexandr Solzhenitsyn said about the catastrophic consequences of the Russian revolution. I recall, he said, hearing a number of older people offer the following explanation for the great disasters that had befallen Russia: Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.
Solzhenitsyn was right. Indeed, I cant find any better explanation for why we Americans find ourselves in the state we are in. We have forgotten God.
We have also forgotten that American democracyindeed Western Civilization itselfis the product of the Judeo-Christian understanding of God and humanity. Without that revelation that man is created in the image of God, our founders never would have recognized the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Indeed, as I and others like Rodney Stark have argued, modern science and education, liberal democracy, capitalism flourished in Western civilization precisely because of the Judeo-Christian worldview.
The attacks on Christianity these days are only going to intensify in the months ahead. But we must press on all the more to make a winsome witness. Those who would banish Christianity from American life are risking the very survival of American society.
Friends have asked me whether this economic crisis is Gods judgment upon us. I dont know.
As Ive re-read the Old Testament prophets recently, I couldnt help but notice the recurring theme: The people of God turned away from Him and worshipped false idols. The result was always disaster.
Is God responsible for credit markets collapsing around the world? No. Were responsible. Because instead of worshiping God, weve worshipped false idols of the marketplace, credit card companies and cheap mortgages. Weve put our own appetites over our duties to God and neighbor.
So this is no time for Christians to go into the bunkers. No time to wail or moan over our retirement plans. This is a time to repent, to pray more, to give more. Its a time for Christians to lead, encourage, and minister to a faltering country in a faltering economy.
This is a time for the Church to get serious about Christian discipleship. Enough cheap grace.
So pray for the new President and his administration. But most of all, my brothers and sisters, this is a time to love our neighbors and to hunger for God and His righteousness.
To what point do you obey in non-scriptural points?
I foresee a law coming where we can’t store ammo or own high-capacity weapons, would you say it’s un-Godly to disobey that law?
I have a problem with that, but then again...I’ve always had a problem with Corinthians and Romans take on obeying the authorities...
Ed
Exactly! They have chosen a King yesterday. What a disaster that will be for this country.
