Yes; love them enough to correct them and punish them for their wrong doing; and pray that they repent, and seek redemption.

I can't bring myself to pray for obama right now ... I may feel differently once the pain of this night subsides, I don't know. Our country definitely needs prayer. We need to pray for His strength, guidance and protection for us. And above all else, His mercy.
Prayer for our troops as well and for the good Commander-In-Chief they have had for the past 8 years.
Father, You are our strength, our shelter from the storm. Your will is Your own. We may not always understand, but we know You will always be with us.
Help us not to worry--you remind us not to worry about anything and we shouldn't. Elections come and go, but You, our Father, will ALWAYS and FOREVER rule on YOUR Heavenly Throne. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
No matter how odious it may be, the Bible clearly tells us to pray for those who are in authority over us. Much as I hate the thought of praying for this man....it will be through prayer and only prayer that his heart can be changed. he has been placed in a very powerful position and without the prayer of praying saints...things will only get worse. I for one think that praying for this man’s salvation is very important. Because the Bible is the unerring Word of God, I have to believe that Obama is in the place he is in, not because of votes...but because God ordained it...for whatever reason...I do not know. He places Kings..righteous and unrighteous on their thrones...FOR HIS PURPOSE.
If his purpose is to weaken our country, so as to usher in the reign of the antichrist and in doing so...bringing about the second coming..who am I to not stand with God and pray his will be done?
We have sat and watched a massive delusion gripping our country (and the world)...black is white and white is black...for a number of years now, intensifying each day. Wasn’t this foretold to us as a sign of the last days??....the delusion was not of satan, but one God brought forth...FOR HIS PURPOSES.
Yes, my heart is broken, I did not want to see this happen or to have this person as our leader...but it is the duty of every christian to pray for those who are in authority....whether we agree with their politics or not.
My first inclination was to delete myself from your thread (my flesh crawls at the thought of this man and his agenda)...but if their is any man on the face of the earth that needs prayer...it is this man....corrupted by ungodly mentors, with ungodly ideas and holding a place of massive power.
If God can change me through the prayers of one Godly woman, how much more so if body of Christ lifts Obama up to the throne and prays for the salvation of this man?? We may not be able to change his politics, but God can and does change the hearts of men....which in turn changes their politics.
I pray even tonight, that the Lord would visit this man in his dreams, in a vision, or by knocking him off his horse (so to speak) and reveal to him the One and true God..to change his heart and humble him before his Creator.
What better scenario could there be...after all the hoopla to find that the guy the leftists have voted into power, is a born again, radically changed blood, bought Christian....this my friends will only happen through prayer. Let it be so.

I agree with what you said--this is a battle that can't be won in the flesh. It is a spiritual fight. I certainly pray you are right and that certain people can be changed.

Agreed. I pray he prospers ONLY SO FAR AS he follows God’s will and God’s standards. I’ve prayed the same for Bush, by the way. Killing Babies is not God’s standard. Obama must repent of this sin or he will have God’s judgment not His blessing.

This isn’t a sarcastic question...I’ve always struggled with Paul telling us in Corinthians that the authorities must be obeyed, while realizing the absolute evil and depravity of people like Stalin, Causescu, Pol Pot and others, and I believe that what (or who) is behind Obama is the same kind of evil as they, just not made fully manifest yet.
So how can a Russian pray for Stalin, or a Romanian pray for Causescu, or a Christian pray for Obama when he says the first thing he’ll do is pass a bill outlawing all restrictions on abortion?
And if God gave us Obama to punish our blasphemy, lust, abortions, divorces and abortions, how can we pray for the deliverer of our destruction?
I’m really asking this sincerely, as I do recognize Jesus and St. Paul’s words in what you say.

There was a poster last week who posted about a prophecy he had. He said he was enabled to walk up to Sarah Palin and John McCain at a rally and prophetically tell them “You are Esther, you will win the election.”
Well, it obviously wasn’t God giving this guy that prophecy about Sarah winning and being an Esther.
So...when I read about spirits and prophecies and the like, I get really, really sceptical.

I’m sorry, I cannot offer prayers for Obama - it is like offering prayers for the devil.
However, I can and will offer prayers for our great country that we turn from our present path.
But in all honesty, it appears our path is pre-ordained and part of God’s plan and our prayers should be for our fellow believers to stay strong in the faith.
Please consider changing the title of your thread away from “Prayers for Obama” to something to the line of prayers for our country.

Yes indeed the Bible says for us to pray for our enemies, but he never said to pray for Satan. Obama is not our enemy, he is a handpiece of Satan, and like Christ did with the money changers who defiled the temple, he should be driven out. Christ did not always pray for his enemies, sometimes he calmly made a whip and then beat them until they retreated.
I no longer have a president and I evidently don’t know the people residing in this once great country. But, thanks for asking.
