I represent a couple of solid evangelical urban churches and am amazed that the pastors have the same outlook as the “christian” attorney you spoke to. All they could talk about was the “if you have done it unto the least of these” theme. I asked them if they knew who gave the most to “the least of these”, McCain or Obama and they could not answer nor could they explain “evil companions corrupt good morals”.

What is even more maddening is when the corruption and the restrictions on their liberty and pocketbook start, they will rejoice that God has counted them worthy to suffer rather than see it as God giving them the desires of their hearts and bringing leanness.

What is the leanness that God will give for turning a head so as not to see the babies in Molech’s belly?

Or for helping to put them there?

Yeah, he used the old "Golden Rule" argument and had the temerity to suggest that if Jesus were alive -- (as if he were dead) -- if Jesus were alive, today, he'd be a Democrat because somehow "doing unto others" is solely a Democrat virtue. I suggested that Jesus would never rob Peter to pay Paul, which is what the progressive tax does. I told him that Jesus would advocate voluntary Charity rather than forced Charity. I also pointed out that the welfare system makes the Government "God" in they eyes of those who receive Manna from the Government and they no longer rely upon the good graces of the Church.

It was a maddening conversation, but at the end, I knew that Obama was going to be the next president, because Obama is going to the the Messiah from Washington. People have decided to put their trust in Government and abandon their trust in God.

Its a sad day.

I'm probably going to retire to the Religion Forum after tonight. Let's say we start up the Calvin/Arminian wars again. At least if we are busy arguing scripture, we will also be busy studying it. I'm sick to death of politics. God's plan was set in motion before the foundation of the Earth. Sometimes its better to just watch from the sidelines than to struggle to change it.
