I’m from PA, this call doesn’t make sense. McCain districts will come in late, Obama early, voters have been over-called, they will respond quirkily to exit pollsters.
As I said on a thread I started a few minutes ago, Michael Barone was on Fox News a few minutes ago, and he said that the WPE in Pennsylvania (the measure of the difference between the exit polling results and teh ACTUAL results) is 10.4%!!! That’s HUGE!
That’s why he’s urging restraint on the PA call for Obama.
Fox also said they were calling PA based on Philly turnout. I.e. there’s an assumption Philly = Dem.
I’m from Philly and I don’t think you can make that call. I’m guessing there will be substantial Philly votes for McCain...more than people are guessing now.
We drove by a couple of polling places just when the news on the radio called PA for Obama. I hope this isn’t supressing R turnout...
I have heard from GOP operatives that PA is voting 2-1 McCain across the south and west with HUGE Republican turnouts in those areas. Combine this fact with Rendell’s “disapointment” with turnout in Philly. I think Barone may be onto something.
