They think they’ve voted for freedom but they’ve voted for slavery,
They think they’ve voted for a minority but they’ve voted for an elitist,
They think they’ve voted for opportunity but they’ve voted for a threat,
They think they’ve voted for love but they’ve voted for hate,
They think they’ve voted for tolerance but they’ve voted for bigotry,
They think they’ve voted for the poor but they’ve voted for the (truly) rich,
They think they’ve voted for “the dream” but they’ve voted for the obscene,
They think they’ve voted for us but they’ve voted for them,
They think they’ve voted for the common man but they’ve voted for the Establishment,
They think they’ve voted for the new world but they’ve voted for a restoration of the old,
They think they’ve voted for life but they’ve voted for death,
They think they’ve voted for enlightenment but they’ve voted for ignorance,
They think they’ve voted for America but they’ve voted for the world,
They think they’ve voted for hope but they’ve voted for despair,
They think they’ve voted for change but they’ve voted for more of the same.
