The last time that happened we got stuck with FDR for 12+ years.
Yes, and we also eventually got the '50s. Golden era of our nation so far. And FDR was a non-monster as a human being who was at least sane. I'm not at all sure 'bowt 'bama. If we position ourselves as the alternative there will come a day, and maybe as early as 2010, when the people will beg to be saved from these bozos.
We need to fail to repeat the mistakes that Republicans made fighting FDR. Look at, for instance, the "Liberty League." We could loose 100 more seats in the house in two years. We could pick up 200 seats in a landslide born of remorse and righteous indignation. Which will it be. Probably neither. But we will decide our own destiny.
