Wow. I feel the same way. These are very intelligent people and the rage at Bush, the total suspension of even the miniscule ability to carry on a discussion of differing opinions beyond 60 seconds, has been amazing!

It is bizzare.

I've been thinking about my responses too. Like you, honesty is what I'm going to give. If this makes their lives fulfilled, congrats...but I will point out that I'm not big into hero worship, especially that of a politician. I simply can't understand people who pin their hopes, dreams and lives on politicians. I find it pathetic, kind of an admission of failure to care for oneself.

I will also reserve, with some of my snarkier liberal acquaintances, the right to say "I told you so" in a few years and remind them when they are bitching that they wanted 'change'...and got it.
