Matthew Dowd, chief strategist for the Bush 2004 campaign today said that McCain “put the nation at risk by picking Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate...McCain would have to live with picking the inexperienced Palin...they didn’t let John McCain pick the person he wanted to pick as VP...Joe Lieberman which I fundamentally believed would have given John McCain the best opportunity in this race...as soon as he picked Palin, that whole ready vs. not ready argument was not credible...McCain knows, in his gut, that he put somebody unqualified on the ballot.” Mr. Dowd, sir, I have one question for you: “Have you been living under a rock or have you been in hibernation for the last two months? The charisma of Obama, the MSM being in the tank for Obama, the worst financial meltdown in 70 years, the worst political climate for a Republican Presidential candidate in ages, and a potentially unenthused, uninspired Republican base would have daunted anybody. You’re saying that with Joe Lieberman on the ticket that McCain would have been able to make his case to the American people that they should choose him over Obama and at the same time maximize Republican turnout of the base. Mr. Dowd, admit you don’t like McCain and you would love to see him lose big time and you don’t want to see the resurrection of Reagan conservatism under Sarah Palin. It is Republicans like you sir that Rush Limbaugh will say ‘good riddance’to after the election. I echo his sentiments completely.

And, not for anything, but why did John McCain need Dick Cheney’s endorsement yesterday? Sen. Obama’s campaigning on it today.

Matthew Dowd couldn’t have said this today, 2 days before an election. This never happened.
