I grew up in cleveland...lots of immigrants who worked hard, were more american than americans...NOW???

guess the children grew up and raised children that have no clue as to why their grandparents fled other countries and were so grateful to be here.

I too grew up with immigrants, proud of the fact that they were AMERICANS.
The most important thing for the kids, learn to speak English.
My neighbors were Serbians, and I was tagged with the nic name, injected Serb.
They worked hard, and shared stories of the “Old Country” with me.

Sad to say, you are right, the 3rd and 4th generation immigrants lost
the spirit and pride they got from their first and second generation
family members. Our loss, their families loss.
