I am sure you will do what the rest of us will do......stand together and push back...we are Americans....unlike the beaten down peasants of Russia who just rolled over and let it happen to them...and then regreted it to their dying day...as captured by Solzhenitsyn in the below quote....and we Americans have more than axes, hammers and pokers!
“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling in terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers,or whatever else was at hand? [...] The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!”
The Gulag Archipelago, A. Solzhenitsyn. Chapter 1 “Arrest”, fn. 5.
I have never, ever understood the mentality of a people who could be manipulated and bullied by a handful. I’ve always had a severe rebellious streak in me; particularly against corrupt authority, and one frightfully unbecoming of a lady, much to my dear proper mother’s dismay. I just had the thought to cross my mind...what if this has been “placed” in me for such a time as this?
Oh, I have been trying to remember where I read that quote. It has been playing over and over in my mind since I saw this Obama statement a few weeks ago.
I cannot believe this is happening in this country!
