Oh, I have been trying to remember where I read that quote. It has been playing over and over in my mind since I saw this Obama statement a few weeks ago.

Let me try this one more time:

1. The officers of the United States Air Force and United States Navy WILL NOT surrender their nuclear weapons to civilians from the President's staff, his hangers on or even his "civilian national security force." You may think there are a bunch of lib Wesley Clark types sitting around that Obama can tap, but there aren't enough. (Granted, you say he wouldn't need the military, so I assume you're talking about civilians.) 2. The "hand-picked" group you are talking about wouldn't be able to retarget the missiles...and what chance is there that the Air Force rank and file is going to retarget missiles for targets on our soil?

3. As you noted, Obama would need to replace the top officers on every missile sub in order to control the Navy's nuclear inventory. Well, even if your ludicrous "replace the Air Force brass with Louis Farrakhan and the folks from ACORN" scenario came true, all it would take to unravel it would be one sub captain and XO willing to say "If President Obama nukes an American city we nuke DC."

Try dealing with reality on this planet.

I love it when my fellow conservatives express such confidence in the American people. Sadly, the reality is that this nation will succumb rather quickly under the right circumstances and careful application of the combined weapons of isolation, starvation, and confiscation. If you think an election with such different candidates can cause civil division, imagine what isolationa nd starvation will do to polarize the people. There will be two camps of ‘we the people’, and you can guess which side the Marxist central authority will use to ferret out the other side, ‘to establish peace and end pockets of starvation and suffering’.

I said this the other day on another thread. This election is a coup. A socialist, Marxist, America-hating coup.

They have been working on this for a very long time, patiently waiting for us to be asleep enough, far enough removed from Hitler and Mussolini and Stalin that we would not see the writing on the wall. Obama is their perfect candidate and I believe he has been groomed his whole adult life for this specific purpose - a socialist Marxist coup that has aims to bring this country down and bring her freedom-loving people to their knees.

So you say, but if you read the following direct quotes of Obama, your interpretation presumes more than is actually said. I think that I am (post # 271) much closer to what he actually is saying. Either way, Obama is not presidential material.

From an Obama speech in July:

Obama said he would boost the size of the active military, but that the nation's future depends on more than just additional soldiers.

" It also depends on the teacher in East L.A., or the nurse in Appalachia, the after-school working in New Orleans, the Peace Corps volunteer in Africa, the Foreign Service officer in Indonesia," he said.

Obama reflected on how the presidencies of Franklin D. Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy both made public service hallmarks of their administration and how the nation was the better for such efforts.

" We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set," he said. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded."

Obama called for greater integration with schools, so that young Americans are better prepared to be active citizens. He said he would make federal assistance conditional on school districts establishing service programs and set the goal of 50 hours of service a year for middle and high school students.

It is nothing new. Liberals have been doing this for decades right under our noses.

They gave federal dollars to universities, then forced institutions like VMI and the Citadel to accept female cadets.

They gave federal dollars to the states for roads, then forced the 55 mph speed limit on them.

This is a continuation of everything conservatives have been warning about for years.....get in bed with the federal gov't and end up taking orders from them.
