There are many here who explain why the wealthy want socialism. In a nutshell it stops competition and creates a ruling authority. The rich will be that authority.

Absolutely correct. I have talked to many successful small businessmen in the last couple years who say that this country has drifted so far toward socialism, and things are now so tilted against a small operation becoming successful, that they do not see how they could start off their businesses today and make it. It was easier in the 80s and even in the 70s.
Meanwhile, the Chinese have gone capitalistic, for the most part, and are running rings around us. Sure, I would not want to live in that pollution, but, at the rate they are going, in a generation they will have the money to fix it better than we can fix ours. IF their own corruption problems don’t stymie their gains, that is.
I’d love to hear McCain & Palin ask Obama tomorrow, at each stop: “How do your policies differ from socialism?”
Or: “In the 1992 election, Bill Clinton promised tax cuts for most people. That never happened, and instead, he INCREASED taxes. Why should we believe your promises more than his?”
Or: “Your social and economic policies are generally similar to those of Gov. Blagojevich, in Illinois. Please explain the “success” of Illinois, economically, under Gov. Blagojevich. (For anyone who doesn’t know, Illinois’ State finances and the IL economy in general, under Blago, were tanking long before the present financial sector problems.)”
