Zeituni Onyango, the aunt so affectionately described in Mr Obamas best-selling memoir Dreams from My Father, lives in a disabled-access flat on a rundown public housing estate in South Boston.
A second relative believed to be the long-lost Uncle Omar described in the book was beaten by armed robbers with a sawed-off rifle while working in a corner shop in the Dorchester area of the city. He was later evicted from his one-bedroom flat for failing to pay $2,324.20 (£1,488) arrears, according to the Boston Housing Court.

And he doesn’t even redistribute one damned cent of his own fortune to help his run down relatives. What a crack head.
Interesting. Thanks for posting.
Too bad they weren’t on the Obama show. Granted the broke family showing up is cliché, but those kind of shenanigans are always good for laughs. I’m sure the plucky side-kick Joe was supposed to be comidic relief, but on tonight’s episode he just wasn’t funny. Personally, judging by tonight’s Pilot episode, I don’t expect it to get picked up.
he just needs to redistribute the wealth of all 300mm people in America... it is MUCH easier than for instance... writing them a check, or inviting them to live in his house in Chicago...
oh — by the way — just because he EXPLOITED these poor people in his autobiography and lied about the special kinship he felt with them to sell his narcissistic fantasy — doesn't mean that they are entitled to any of HIS money — your money? Sure... giving them “your” money is just fine!
I’ll bet that poor old Auntie Zeituni doesn’t even get a Ramadan card.
Well, good evening!
Speaking outside her home in Flaherty Way, South Boston, on Tuesday, Ms Onyango, 56, confirmed she was the Auntie Zeituni in Mr Obamas memoir. She declined to answer most other questions about her relationship with the presidential contender until after the November 4 election. I cant talk about it, I just pray for him, thats all, she said, adding: After the 4th, I can talk to anyone.
A photograph of Ms Onyango was later shown to George Hussein Onyango, Barack Obamas half-brother in Nairobi, who confirmed that it was their aunt. George Onyango, 26, the youngest child of Barack Obama Sr, said that he had spent weekends with his Aunt Zeituni when he was growing up, and instantly recognised her.
She donated $260 to his campaign, she can’t be too poor to do this. Her name is about as crazy as Odinga. Can’t wait for the weekly Bar-B-Ques on the white house lawn. ribs and chicken.
Didn’t he just say something like, if we can’t take care of our family then how are we supposed to take care of others? Something like that.
What a loser.
Waiting for our press to pick this up ... still waiting ... (ten years later) ... still waiting ...
Hiya!!
This translated article sounds as if he has more brothers, or at least one more in Kuait.
no spreading the wealth? woot? lol
Notice that the paper this was printed in is in the UK not the US!
Any time I get frustrated with my extended family, I can always find some other family that is whackier. This year it is the Obama family — by a long shot!
Yeah. Well, the, uh, I think most people understand, uh, that if you're not, um, caring for your family, uh, then you're probably not, uh, the kind of person who's going to be caring for other people.
We understand you Obama.
