This is so full of it, it is pitiful.. the six step reframe, in context of what you are seeing is basically:
1. Identify the behavior that needs to change (in this case, doubting Obama)
2. Establish communication with the part which is responsible for the behavior (ie, why would you doubt Obama- identify areas of experience that undecideds may have)
3. Separate the positive intention from the behavior. (we, we, we- frame everything as a partnership- you can’t doubt Obama if he frames this as he will work with you..)
4. Ask your creative part to generate new ways that will accomplish the same purpose. (he leaves many solutions open ended where you fill in, subconsciously, with what you would do.. you’ll notice there aren’t more specifics, he lets you answer the question, thinking it is his solution.)
5. Ask the part if it will agree to use the new choices over the next few weeks, rather than the old behavior. (he hasn’t pulled this yet as I type, but listen for him to ask a lot of rhetorical questions or questions that you are forced to agree with. “..wouldn’t you agree?”)
6. Ecological Check (close all doubts- In Obama’s way, this is often through ridicule or making one feel stupid or guilty if you disagree. “How can you disagree with feeding starving children?”
Thanks. I’m going to have to delve a bit deeper into NLP. Very interesting.
I did tune in for a couple of minutes. Typical mindless pablum...
How can you spend half an hour and not say anything?!
