I think that John McCain is going to get a lot more Democrat voters than anyone could mention. Today I went into my local McDonald’s’s for a breakfast sandwich and coffee. While I was eating, I overheard 6 retired union workers talking. Those guys meet there everyday for coffee to ‘shoot the crap’. I know that they were big Hillary backers during the primary and have, on occassion, been at odds with Bush so I know they don’t like him or Republicans. When the issue of the Khaladi tapes came up on one of the TV’s, one of the guys mentioned that there was a tape of another terrorist being linked to Obama and they all started to talk in very subdued voices (almost whispers). I was stunned to overhear that they all admitted to each other that they will vote for McCain. The telling thing was that they all felt like they had to admit it in subdues voices as if they were afraid of being overheard by the KGB. I can honestly admit that if McCain is going to get these guys to vote for him, he ought to get a whole lot more traditional Dems to vote for him.

I think a lot more Dems will than the current polls suggest. Some, of course, will chicken out and vote for the Dem, but there is enough anger, distrust, and disgust with Obama that he will lose way more Dems than McCain will lose Repubs. Whatever it's been over the last two elections, I think it will increase significantly. Obama is not bringing the Kerry base into this election. He's lost a lot of people.

I’ve been thinking this alot, people in my family who are rabid democrats will not vote for Obama.

I think he is in trouble, he just doesn’t know it.

Very telling. And you're not the only one who's noticed this. I've seen it, and yesterday, I spoke with someone who mentioned it in similar terms.

IMHO, it goes way beyond being reluctant to admit you're voting for the other party. The open, free-wheeling and spirited debate that normally occurs in social and business circles at this time in an election is conspicuously restrained. There's an air of caution unlike anything I've seen before.

Your conclusion is right on the mark.

Under an Obama rule, not Administration, the word “Comrade” will not be used immediately, but other words and expressions will be.

You'll recognize some of the words that have been used abundantly by the MSM since the run leading to the 2006 election.

When you say abc = you will be labeled xyz

Any criticism = counterproductive

Patriotic/American = Nativist (Illegal Immigration)

Illegal Aliens = Racist, Restrictionist

Cut taxes, taxes too high = Racist, unpatriotic

WoT = Illegal War, War Monger

Stop Iran's Nukes = Interfering in the Internal Affairs of a Sovereign country

Retaliate after getting hit = Breaking International Law, the UN ruled it Illegal

First Amendment = Fairness Doctrine

Second Amendment = No such thing. Brits are long gone.

Investigate wrong doings by Congress/WH= Partisan Pig, Unpatriotic, Racist, Traitor, Distracter, Dumb, Enemy of Change and the State, Counterproductive and (maybe, after a couple of years), COUNTERREVOLUTIONARY!

Ladies and gentlemen, what a disaster that would be for our beloved America. Worse, 50% or more of Americans are pushing for it!

listen to http://www.thisamericanlife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?sched=1267

There are sections about union voters in PA for McCain from people on the ground there. Very interesting.

Let's hope your experience is being repeated in burger joints all over the country.
