If your wife ever starts giving you a hard time about buying firearms, bring up her washing machine, the one she washes clothes in, the dish washer, the bathroom sink, the kitchen sink, the washtub and the buckets she uses to wash her car. If she doesn’t get the idea then bring up wash cloths, sponges, steel wool, on and on and on. Don’t worry, you are holding the winning cards. Pillows, shoes, coats, on and on and on.
In fairness she doesn't, though she has given questionable advice on trades once or twice, as in you can't trade that because..., usually family things.
Mine gave me a hard time about buying a shotgun (Browning BPS). About 2 months after that I had to go out of town to class for a week. The Saturday after I got back I went to get it out of the hall closet to go skeet shooting with some people from work. It was gone.
I found it under the bed.
... sounds like you're speaking from experience?
Whenever my wife complains about “another gun”, I just tell her that I’m doing my part to keep guns off the street. She has no idea how successful I’ve been.
Problem with that reasoning is she’ll view it as benefiting everyone, while your expensive collection only benefits you - regardless of what argument you make.
