hey hey hey! Easy now!I just learned what a twitter is a few days ago thanks to the unhinged Ashley Todd.
OK - I read the post about digg -and I think I get it.
Next question - what is an rss feed?
My apologies if you just spit your beverage onto your keyboard.
An RSS feed is how a website is able to broadcast a content update. Once a posting/article has been added the RSS feed picks it up and pushes it out to the people who subscribe to it. If you type in the URL of the feed you can see all of the stuff that gets posted.
rss....nowadays stands for really simple syndication...
Basically it’s an internet “standard” for sharing articles...when you subscribe to a “feed”, a RSS or Atom (2 different versions), with a “feed reader”...when that website posts an article, you receive the article immediately (or a blurb from it)...
Google has a free feed reader...and Yahoo...with which you can subscribe to feeds...
The effect is that the news is brought to you...rather than you going around the Net to get it....
That’s RSS feeds at it’s most basic...more advanced, you can display someone elses feed on your own website..(referred to as syndication) Very cool...
Twitter was cool in the beginning but has fallen into spam hell recently...see if they can get a handle on that in the future...:)
