If certified by the new congress in January but before an inauguration, I would believe that Plugs would be the president.
Nothing stopping a few of them from voting for McCain, either. Party Unity My A**. Some states have “faithless elector” laws, but it’s not certain if they are bound to the ticket, the party, or the candidate.

Do you really think that ANY of the electors would change their votes and switch to McCain? They would have to leave the state or enter the witness protection program...........

The “Truthfulness” website called FactCheck.org is itself decidedly BIASED toward the LEFT as the discussion that follows points out.
The ANNENBERG Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania is the organization behind the FactCheck.org website that is being consulted OFTEN by voters and media personalities alike to help them form opinions on the “truthfulness” of the claims being made by the McCain and Obama political ads as well as statements made on the Campaign Trail and in Presidential and Vice Presidential debates.
Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D. is the Director of the ANNENBERG Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania which is the organization BEHIND the FactCheck.org “truthfulness” website.

What’s the bottom line? FactCheck.org is a LEFT-BIASED organization that has sold itself as “Politically NEUTRAL” to America’s voters and media personnel.
The fact is, the ANNENBERG Public Policy Center (APPC), the sponsoring agency behind FastCheck.org, is itself supported by the same foundation, the ANNENBERG FOUNDATION, that Bill Ayers secured the 49.2 million dollars from to create the Chicago ANNENBERG Challenge “philanthropic” organization in which Barack Obama was the founding Chairman of the Board for and Ayers served as the grant writer of and co-Chair of for its two operating arms.
Does the LEFT have no conscience at all?
FactCheck.org is NOT going to “help” clear up anything about Obama’s birth certificate controversy.
That organization will only spread disinformation (i.e. pure crap).

Obama’s sister Maya was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, but Anna Dunham registered her as “born in Honolulu” shortly after her birth. Maya has a State of Hawaii Certificate of Live Birth, just like Obama. A known person who was born outside the country with a Hawaiian COLB.

Any information that has been verified is worthy of note. From the point of view of an enthusiastic amateur in genealogy and family history, this has to be a fascinating case. Of course, to Americans that is not the operative word. Possibly the well being of the United States and that of those countries who depend on it's strength, is at stake. I believe Canada is one of those countries and including the naysayers in other countries, who live in blissful ignorance.
It may be a digression on a certain prize winning book, but I see an irony here. It was on the search for family history of Howard Hughes Jr, costing $2 million dollars. Persons sent to the four corners of the USA to pore over old directories etc. The title is
