FYI, those two are Dresie and Casie Williams, and were just two of the many subjects of a photo essay done in the early 1990's by photographer Roger Ballen, and were taken in the rural village of Western Transvaal, in apartheid South Africa.

For the record, the ruling colonial Dutch whites of South African were anything but liberal or democratic.
