Race would be different if Ridge were VP pick, ex-gov says

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge said today that John McCain can't become president without carrying Pennsylvania and that the race would be different if McCain had chosen him as his running mate.

"I think the dynamics would be different in Pennsylvania," Ridge said when asked if he should have been chosen to run as vice president over Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. "I think we'd be foolish not to admit it publicly."

Ridge, the campaign's national co-chairman, said McCain "had several good choices and I was one of them."

He nonetheless defended the Palin selection, calling it a "typical, bold McCain-like choice."

I saw some liberal Democrat on TV a couple of days ago who stopped putting down Palin long enough to admit that McCain would be further behind if he had picked one of the men being talked about, like Pawlenty.

The abortion issue was the killer for Ridge...if he was pro-life he might have been a reasonably good choice, but he wouldn't have fired up the base as well as Sarah Palin has.

Tom Ridge? What a self-absorbed out-of-touch man.

Sarah Palin was the BEST and CORRECT choice for the Republican Party.

John McCain and Sarah Palin will win this election by enough votes and Electoral College Votes to embarrass Democrats and leave Tom Ridge scratching his head.

And you can quote me on that.

"He might only carry Pa."

He would NOT have carried PA for McCain. Obama would not even need all the fraud that they plan to carry out in Philly if he were on the ticket. All these crappy moderate Republicans wanted McCain and now they are all showing who they really are - Democrats - after saddling Republicans with McCain.

"Ridge is a good conservative..."

What on earth are you smoking? Ridge is one of the biggest Republicrats PA has ever seen, pushed by none other than Theresa Heinz, Elsie Hillman, Arlen Specter and all the other fake, phony, fraud RINOs.

No, he started out as the Republicrat protege of Hillman, Heinz and Specter, a squishy and well-financed moderate RINO and elected in a mostly Democrat district filled with labor union (duh!) voters. He got between a C and an F from the NRA, was a flaming, unapologetic pro-abortion candidate, and was NEVER fiscally conservative during his time in Congress. Was the chosen and heavily promoted candidate for Gov. by the same Republicrats who chose Rendell.

I lived in PA while Tom Ridge was governor. I don’t think he controls that many votes.

Good timing, Tom. Couldn’t wait for November 5 to make your petty jab? What a complete jerk.

McCain would have been blown out. The only intensity on our side is because of Sarah Palin. That’s the truth of the matter and Ridge is not smart enough to understand that.
