AIDS is actually pretty hard to catch. This sounds bogus.

They're not saying that 50 people caught it, only that as many as 50 people have been exposed. It has to be related to sexual activity or needles such as drugs, tatoos, or peircings. Perhaps the person who started all of this has been peircing kid's ears or doing little jail-house tatoos.

In order to protect the privacy of the 50 possibly exposed, they're funneling the entire school through the gym for the opportunity to be tested or to refuse.

I really can't think of anything, other than some sort of giant high school orgy or massive IV drug use, that could realistically expose this many kids to AIDS. Maybe piercing or homemade tattooing, but that would be a real anomaly that so many kids went to one guy for such services.

I have a feeling this will end up to be hysteria- AIDS is pretty tough to catch, all things considered.
