I thought the 18 to 24 field was interesting; McCain up by 4%?
Rush Limbaugh was pointing out recent adverts that show the Dems scaring up the AARP crowd; maybe Zero doesn’t have the votes with the youngsters or maybe they just won’t show up,...again.
Rush also said he knows that Barry is in trouble if he has resorted to the “McCain will take away your Medicaid and Social Security” card.
Apart from this perhaps being from a small sample size, here’s what I’ve noted among the 18-24 year old demographic.
My 20 year old is a grad student at a university. He’s in a private U, business grad program. Lots of his classmates are conservative when it comes to politics (many are older than he is but still within the demographic)...they’re business majors, and business favors conservatives. Even his profs are picking apart O’s tax plan. So you have that group of conservative students who will vote for McCain.
Then you have the normal group of liberal arts, world peace, save the environment, indoctrinated students and those kids will probably vote for Obama.
But there’s a third portion of that demographic that are good students, but also party/hardy college students and they tend toward libertarian beliefs (they’d like to see less laws...drug laws to be specific). Those kids (and I know a few), are voting for McCain, 0 worship doesn’t appeal to them at all, too “follow the crowdish” for their liking.
So, IMHO, it would not be unreasonable to see at least a 50/50 split among that demo for McCain and Obama, possibly a 66/33 for McCain.
