Really? Some would argue that we abandoned the Constitution during the Louisiana Purchase, the disallowance of Southern secession, and particularly during the New Deal.
Some would argue that slavery was no less an abomination before God than would be homosexual marriage. We, as a nation, have departed from God’s will before now.
