Their opinions have no foundation. That's right. When I want to introduce an understanding of subjective values vs. objective principles, I use the following example.
Let's say I'm wearing a new sweater. Ann thinks my sweater is pretty. Barbara thinks it's ugly. Neither of these opinions is either right or wrong--they're both based on the person's subjective perception of what's pretty.
But if Ann says my sweater's made of 100% silk, and Barbara says it's made of 100% cotton, they're now dealing with objective reality rather than subjective values. They are either right or wrong, based on the fact of my sweater's fabric, not on their opinions. They can both be wrong in this case, if my sweater is in fact made of wool, but they can't both be right, because my sweater can't be both 100% silk and 100% cotton.

I know where you are going with that but here is the problem with that line of thought.
It was just destroyed only a couple of weeks ago.
How many congress men got in trouble for advocating a huge bailout? Most.
The problem is the five dollar bill syndrome.
Throw a five dollar bill on the ground and everyone will reach for it. It's that simple.
Ask me if I want a 10,000 dollar stimulus check(or even $600) and most people say yes bring it on! It's the money for nothing syndrome. Always looks good until the bill comes due. And it always does.

Rush just said that the Republican party will be donating Sarah Palin’s clothing that they paid for to charity after she is through wearing tham. They should auction the clothes instead with the money to go to charity (like the Harry Reid Letter). They would make more money back than they paid!

Liberals do not hold the Christian view of the nature of man. Liberals see people as essentially good and willing do the right thing when the proper environment is created. The see government as the vehicle for creating those circumstances. The only reason socialism/communism hasn't worked yet is that it wasn't done properly. I think that's an excellent description of the liberal world view. And concise, too!

Dunno. I bet they'll all be back. Or most. Nobody here is using voting for the bailout against any candidates that I know of. I dont think I understand how this relates to your point about handouts, though....directly.
I understand the problem - socialism doesn't work because somebody, who will be less and less motivated, has to support the rest. However, our liberal teachers in our liberal education system are actually teaching the ideas of entitlement (and it starts with grades for little performance). I worry for when the boomers leave the workforce and are replaced with these kids.

“So there are some liberals out there who are open to reason. Not a lot, but some.”
This morning on the radio some guy called in saying Obama is not a socialist because he supports a progressive income tax!!! The host, some strange dude I can’t think of his name, failed to tell him that Hitler liked dogs, and what Obama is proposing is not just a progressive tax rate but given people back more money than was deducted.

It is amazing to see the number of Jews that are all too happy to through Israel under the bus to elect a socialist.

That's why I don't understand union endorsements, who gives a rat's patootie what a union thugocracy thinks? Sorry for the late response, hat. I had to go mulch leaves. The union endorsements mean $$$$ from union PACs. It also means manpower from the executive board hangers on. You know the type I'm talking about. They are the ones who always show at ralleys and protests wearing the Tee shirts and hats. They man the phone banks.
