The possible scenerio of Dems having unlimited power is largely due to no so much an affirmation of Dems, but a digust of Bush and other Republicans. The main reason why Dems are competitive in once reliable GOP states is that the GOP brand stinks. It works both ways. Reagan and Bush Sr. were competitive in the West Coast and New England due to public disgust with Carter. Reagan was successful in linking big government programs to incompetence. I hope we can do the same with Obama. That is if we don't go to jail for blasphemy against the Messiah.
