Bush should have been impeached: Donald Trump

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Property mogul and diehard Republican Donald Trump told CNN on Wednesday that President George W. Bush misled the US into the Iraq War and should have been impeached when the Democrats took control of Congress in 2006. "I was surprised that she didn't do more in terms of Bush and going after Bush," Trump said in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, referring to Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. "It ... just seemed like she was going to really look to impeach Bush and get him out of office, which personally I think would have been a wonderful thing." Trump, 62, said Bush misled the United States into waging war on Iraq, a much worse offense than a dalliance with a White House intern his predecessor Bill Clinton was impeached for in 1999. "He lied. He got us into the war with lies," Trump said about Bush. "And I mean -- look at the trouble Bill Clinton got into with something that was totally unimportant. And they tried to impeach him, which was nonsense. "And yet Bush got us into this horrible war with lies, by lying, by saying they had weapons of mass destruction, by saying all sorts of things that turned out not to be true," he added. On the race for the White House, Trump said he was rooting for John McCain to win the November 4 election...

allowing Rumsfeld, and directing Casey, military et al to fight a limited war

I beg to differ some. I saw Rumsfeld stumping for a 'small footprint'. When folks like McCain were saying we need a surge, I wanted the RINOs to sit down and shut up. But they were right and Rumy and I were wrong. Bush replaced Rumsfeld with Gates and Petraeus and a job well done to them all and most importantly a job well done to our Troops.

Every war has its mistakes, but let it be known that our military went faster and further behind enemy lines and removed the leaders quicker then any military in the history of the world. With the least amount of people dead too. The execution of 'the War' was excellent. We have a problem with insurgents. Germany had bombs going off five years after the end of WWII. We are doing OK in Iraq, we have to keep at it. The basic execution was sound. We had to adapt, improvise, and overcome a few situation, but that is in any war. Now we have to finish the job so we never have to go back.

When will these people understand that Hussein signed a cease fire and not a peace treaty. We were still legally at war with Hussein. He also neglected the cease fire on numerous occasions. He should have been taken out a long time ago. I am glad we took him out. Hussein's chapter is over and we can move on. Now, we are trying to set up a new government and we have to deal with insurgents. Which is good. That gives us a chance to eliminate bad people. Those who would fight us over there would fight us over here. We saw it on 911. The next one could be worse.

On this much we concur; Hussein was badly mauled in Gulf War I but he was let off the hook by Geo. HW Bush. War is meant to fight until a surrender is given...not a cease fire. History has shown that in cases where a cease fire has been declared (Korea, French Indochina) the war doesn't just go away.
