You probably didn’t realize he was a Democrat because he’s not. Orson Scoot Card is a conservative Mormon. Meridian (where the original article is posted) is a LDS / Mormon magazine.

Still some good points in the article though.

He is, in fact, a Democrat:

Political identification

Card identifies himself as a Democrat because he is pro-gun control/anti-National Rifle Association, highly critical of free-market capitalism, and because he believes that the Republican party in the South continues to tolerate racism. Card encapsulated his views thus:[12]

Even Mormons can be wrong. By the way, didn't you read the opening comment in blue on the Mormon magazine website? It reads, “Editor's note: Orson Scott Card is a Democrat and a newspaper columnist, and in this opinion piece he takes on both while lamenting the current state of journalism. “

Get a clue you two.

Conservative Mormon is not a political party :D . The poster asserted he was a Democrat. Its not news when a Republican, even a brilliant guy like OSC, criticizes Democrats.

I’ve visited his website from time to time and he always has something interesting, and adult, to say. He doesn’t update it frequently enough for me to visit it more often. I am just happy to have it in my favorites list.
